Moderna is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive our Technology Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) (60%) and Major Incident Management (40%) program. We’re looking for someone with a high level of integrity and personal accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and infrastructure technology domain expertise.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Program Management: Take a structured, data-driven, and risk-based approach to program scoping, execution, and reporting
- Kick off and successfully manage multiple, simultaneous, complex, high visibility workstreams with full ownership, effective collaboration, and good process
- Build processes, templates, and structure, or leverage existing ones as appropriate, considering the cost vs benefit of change before implementing
- Measure program success (or lack thereof) and risks using data and facts
- Provide balanced risk remediation strategies and recommendations and drive risk mitigation
- Develop and maintain close stakeholder relationships and build influence to drive the appropriate outcomes across Moderna
- Provide clear, accurate, consistent, and timely communications
- Advance good infrastructure and security practices and culture
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery: In collaboration and alignment with system/service owners and business owners, drive disaster recovery planning and testing across Moderna for high-risk systems and services, and own major BC/DR deliverables for key partners and regulatory agencies
- Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIA) to assess system interdependencies and Recovery Time Objective (RTO)/Recovery Point Objective (RPO) requirements.
- Work with system owners to create disaster recovery (DR) plans for high-risk systems and services.
- Design and lead regular DR testing exercises, including tabletop simulations and full failover tests, to validate recovery plans for high-risk systems.
- Analyze results, identify gaps, and work with systems owners and key stakeholders from the business to drive improvements to enhance resilience and compliance.
Major Incident Management: In collaboration and alignment with Security Incident Response, Privacy Incident Response, and Corporate Security partners, define and drive good infrastructure incident response practices and actively support major incident management
- Oversee and report on the incident lifecycle
- Drive accurate incident identification and appropriate and timely response and resolution
- Attempt to work your way out of a job (figuratively-speaking) by programmatically increasing infrastructure resilience and reducing the occurrence of infrastructure incidents
Observability: Define logging and monitoring standards based on system or service criticality; work with logging and monitoring system/service owners to define requirements and implement technical capabilities; provide consultative guidance as system/service owners work to implement these standards
Actively contribute to creating a more inclusive culture and environment at Moderna; endorse, create, and maintain antiracist policies and processes
Here’s what you’ll need (minimum qualifications)
- 8+ years of program management experience, preferably in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery for technology organizations
- Demonstrated technical depth and problem-solving capabilities in observability, infrastructure incident response, and disaster recovery planning and testing
- Ability to successfully scope and drive complex and multi-workstream programs in a structured, risk-considerate, data-driven fashion
- Strong listener with the ability to deeply understand, ask the right questions, and proactively pursue constructive feedback
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Familiarity with NIST and/or GAMP
- Influential, inclusive, and trusted partner compassionate to the needs and situations of all your stakeholders

What We Do
At Moderna, we believe messenger RNA, or mRNA, is the “software of life.”
Every cell in the body uses mRNA to provide real-time instructions to make the proteins necessary to drive all aspects of biology, including in human health and disease.
Given its essential role, we believe mRNA could be used to create a new category of medicines with significant potential to improve the lives of patients.
We are pioneering a new class of medicines made of messenger RNA, or mRNA. The potential implications of using mRNA as a drug are significant and far-reaching and could meaningfully improve how medicines are discovered, developed and manufactured.
