The Strategic Sourcing Travel & Services Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping Pinterest's transient and group travel program, alongside procurement support of other corporate products/services by strategically sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships, while supporting a flexible, work-from-anywhere culture. This role requires a strong strategic mindset, deep travel industry knowledge, and excellent negotiation skills to optimize travel programs and drive cost-effectiveness. As a key member of the Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management team, this role drives impactful business decisions, balancing cost-effectiveness with an exceptional traveler experience.
What you'll do:
- Establish a trusted advisor relationship with cross-functional partners, frequent travelers and related stakeholders through regular meetings and touchpoints to monitor supplier performance and organizational impact.
- Evaluate our current transient and group travel supplier portfolio to identify optimal partnerships or other opportunities to optimize the program.
- Provide ata-driven recommendations for optimization and/or new supplier relationships to ensure program performance, compliance and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ensure our overall strategic program and supplier relationships prioritize delivering value, scale, and efficiencies while improving sustainability and duty of care.
- Analyze supplier spend, identify savings opportunities, and manage bidding events and commercial contract terms with travel, hotel, and other event-related suppliers.
- Contribute to travel program policies that support cost savings and avoidance.
- Ensuring synergistic strategic alignment between transient travel and meetings and events across the enterprise.
- Manage and support strategic sourcing needs for all global Pinterest offices, including but not limited to: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
- Effectively manage strategic sourcing events, including but not limited to, additional significant-spend projects and deals outside of travel.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with key functional groups to understand strategy, identify opportunities to scale and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Monitor and Measure Performance: Support the business teams in developing KPIs and capturing data for analyzing spend, as well as monitor and measure supplier performance.
- Identify and Select Suppliers: Evaluate and select suppliers based on service, quality, and value, aligned with travel program or event needs and budget.
- Negotiate and Manage Contracts: Secure the best, overall value for products/services, including (but not limited to) airlines, hotels, rooms, food & beverage, audio visual, event management, and other meeting/event necessities.
- Establish Business Reviews: Engage with suppliers to manage ongoing performance through regular business reviews, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships based on open communication, mutual respect, and partnership.
- Report on Performance: Provide regular reports on procurement activities, cost
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all travel-related activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Monitor Industry Trends: Monitor market conditions and industry trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and new products/services.
What we're looking for:
- Technical/Soft Skills
- In-depth understanding of the transient and group travel industry, with the ability to implement strategies and negotiate costs across the entire supplier portfolio.
- Advanced google-sheets/excel skills to perform data analysis within our travel and platform-related tools.
- Advanced understanding of commercial contract provisions and ability to interpret contractual language.
- Proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to respond quickly and effectively.
- Experience working with travel-related and procurement platforms such as Navan, Concur, Expensify, Oracle, and Ironclad.
- Experience
- 7+ years of strategic sourcing experience in travel or related categories.
- 7+ years of commercial contract negotiation expertise, program management, with experience in travel, hotel, meetings, or other related platforms that enhance traveler experience and provide detailed reporting.
- Proactive and self-driven experience in evaluating, measuring, and optimizing travel-related programs.
- Proven cost-benefit analysis and savings in travel negotiations.
- Knowledge of the entire strategic sourcing lifecycle, with an emphasis on ongoing supplier management, including a deep understanding of procurement and contracting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, a related field or equivalent experience.

- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/quarter and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
