SQL Database Administrator (DBA) Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our organization's databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. The ideal candidate will have experience in SQL Server administration, database tuning, backup and recovery, and security management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases.
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency.
• Implement and manage database security, including user access controls.
• Perform regular database backups, disaster recovery planning, and execution.
• Troubleshoot database issues and provide solutions to minimize downtime.
• Design, develop, and maintain database schemas, stored procedures, and scripts.
• Ensure high availability and business continuity of database systems.
• Automate routine database maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and business analysts.
• Document database configurations, processes, and best practices.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 5-8 years of experience as an SQL DBA.
• Proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, SSMS, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (Always On, Clustering, Replication, Mirroring).
• Knowledge of cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator
