The Opportunity
The Operational Readiness Lead ensures the operating environment, and all business partners are prepared and capable of effectively supporting and accepting the changes resulting from new initiatives and enhancements that are being deployed. This person will be accountable for managing multiple small and mid-size initiatives or being a supporting team member on a large initiative. The Operational Readiness Lead must successfully manage initiatives with potential guidance of a coach/ mentor following department documentation and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Under general supervision, concurrently manage multiple small to medium business only and/or IT projects to ensure all operational readiness tasks are delivered.
• Work with Strategic Planning and ART leads to ensure epic/capability/features are aligned to delivery expectations of the Business and Customer.
• Oversees critical initiatives that require Operational Readiness, typically spanning the entire scope of operational business areas.
• Manages critical relationships; Operations and Delivery release managers, vendors, internal end users, and business customers/leadership.
• Closely manage/coordinate Ops Readiness across teams impacted by the specific initiative or Iteration.
• Track / coordinate key milestone dates and dependencies across all impacted ARTs impacting Claims, Call Center, Plan Master, Service Agreement set up.
• Designs, implements, and monitors the progress of initiatives, milestones, to ensure timeliness and deliverables are met.
• Contributed to detailed work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reports for end-to-end operational readiness.
§ Ensure Alignment with ARTs leads to ensure seamless delivery by coordinate scope, progress and issues/risk.
§ Address business focused concerns which may require engaging architects, engineers and other leads.
• Manages critical relationships; release managers, vendors, internal end users, and business customers/leadership.
• Leads and motivates team members that are not direct reports that may span across the entire organization.
• Identify/ coordinate release management items, ensuring all items have been captured and material created to support training efforts for monthly and ad hoc deployments.
• Monitor/Coordinate responses from stakeholders.
• Create internal release communications.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
• 7 years of experience with Microsoft Office tools
• 2+ years of experience as a business lead related to operational readiness activities.
• 5 years of knowledge of current MetLife business processes, systems and operational areas.
• 5 years of proven ability to plan, organize and lead the execution of small to medium size initiatives.
• Ability to work independently with some oversight by a mentor or coach.
• Exhibit strong collaboration and ability to engage across multiple functions and business units.
• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interpret and communicate complex ideas for a wide variety of audiences.
• Ability to learn and understand organizational dynamics.
• Ability to lead, motivate and support initiative team(s).
• Ability to influence within own team and with partners and senior management.
• Identify risks to project success and recommend course of action to prevent risk from negatively impacting the project.
• Effectively recognize when to escalate issues and options to senior management for resolution.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
• Knowledge of MetLife business structure, products, and end to end processes and outputs.
• Exposure to Information Technology Project Methodologies and Terminology (PMBOK, MetLife PPM).
• Exposure to SAFE Agilist, PMI training, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or PMP certification.
The salary range for applicants for this position is $66,000-112,000.
