Software Engineer Intern

What's the role?
We are seeking an intern with a solid foundation in Computer Science and Data Structures to join our HERE Mapmaking team. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, be a self-starter, and show a keen desire to learn new technologies. Experience building and deploying RESTful web services, working with SQL databases, and familiarity with AWS is a plus. Additionally, the candidate should thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment that emphasizes innovation and be open to learning and integrating technologies beyond their primary area of expertise.
Responsibilities
Work with Senior Software Engineer to develop proof of concepts, minimum viable products, and fully deployable solutions
Take ownership for the software development workflow including design, implementation and potentially deployment
Participate in design discussions and code reviews of your work.
Participate in agile scrum ceremonies like daily standup, sprint planning, sprint review and retrospective.
Presenting and demonstrating your work to co-workers

Who are you?
Requirements:
Pursuing an undergraduate, masters, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems.
Strong programming skills in Java or Python (knowledge of both preferred)
Experience in a software development environment and code management or versioning
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
Strong SQL/Athena skills
Experience working with AWS
This is a full-time paid internship (20 to 40 hours per week) with a fixed hourly rate of depending on your level of education as follows:
Undergraduate Students: $25/hr
Graduate Students: $30/hr
PhD Students: $35/hr
