About the Role
The Automotive Value Engineer work on value initiatives across the HARMAN Automotive Division considering all Region, Business Units, Customer Programs & Projects (pre- and post SOP).
This role is responsible to maximizing profitability of the division by creating and maturing measures within the below scope of value improvement initiatives:
Pre & Post SOP Electronics and Acoustics Project Products Function, Material, Processes, SW & License, product quality and carbon
Your Team
This position will report to the Automotive Value Engineering Lead and will be an individual contributor role with no direct or indirect reports.
What You Will Do
- Create measures for the Value Management initiatives focusing on Customers and Business units for:
- Pre & Post SOP
- Project & Products
- all elements of Value (BOM, BOL, BOP, COPQ & Carbon)
- all improvement types (Negotiation, Re/multi-sourcing, Design improvements)
- Responsible maturing this pipeline that it is ready for full execution.
- Lead risk assessment reviews with the cross functional teams.
- Drive feasibility studies based on given standards & constraints with the cross functional teams.
- Responsible to utilize benchmarking, cost engineering inputs to build 120% pipeline for the goals.
- Co-Lead facilitation of ideation and generation of Measures / Value Management Initiatives
- Drive creation of a detailed implementation plan at project & product level – HD2 – HD3
- Establish close technical relationships with all supporting functions across the division (Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Teams, Finance, Supply Chain & Procurement) to identify best cost solutions.
- Update strategy considering supplier roadmaps for new components, CO2e improvement, manufacturing & quality improvements
- Perform and coordinate the realization of muti program measures until HD5
- Lead/provide engineering analysis towards Automotive Value Management & BVA teams with reports.
- Creating professional reliable VM lessons learned data and consider for further initiatives.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Minimum 7 years proven experience either managing direct reports globally or leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
- Demonstrate technical competency in electronic products (Electrical, Mechanical, Semiconductor components), electronic manufacturing process, quality within automotive production and C02e imropvements.
- Outstanding motivation to challenge status quo and improve HARMAN Automotive division’s profitability
- Networking/influencing capabilities in a diverse cross-functional environment
- Understanding of best-in-class Procurement processes & familiarity with the automotive global supply base
- Understanding of Cost calculation methods and fact-based negotiations
- Understanding of Design to Cost best practices
- Strong data & analytics competency; data-leveraged approach to driving progress & measuring results
- Project Management experience/skillset – ability to pressure test execution plans & execution status for gap identification & resolution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
What is Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 4 years work experience in understanding costs models for component, modules, assemblies
- Experience with automotive electronic systems is expected, including experience selecting and/or recommending automotive assemblies
- Proven ability to share knowledge and best practices with teammates
- Change Orientation: Able to adapt to changing demands and conditions
What Makes You Eligible
- Be willing to travel up to 20%, domestic and international travel
- Be willing to work in an office in EU(Any)/NA(Us & Mexico)/APAC(Any) or work remotely full-time with occasional trips to all HARMAN locations.
