Position Title: Senior Paralegal

Reporting To: General Counsel

Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Newton, MA 

Compensation: $85,000-$100,000, depending on qualifications, plus bonus potential and benefits

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced corporate paralegal who will work directly with Well’s General Counsel/Compliance Officer to support a range of activities and projects.  To be successful in this role, you should have excellent communication, organization and negotiation skills, along with a proven track record of successful experience managing competing priorities in a fast-paced, high growth environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Legal & Compliance Department (and other Corporate functions, as appropriate) through research, the preparation of summaries and documentation, and in identifying and responding to business needs and questions;
  • Aide in the general management of contracting, including updates to playbook, contracting templates, and organization of all contracting documents. Assist in management of contract database, including loading of contracts, searching/reviewing terms and conditions, creation and management of company reports, providing notifications to stakeholders. Assist in initial drafting and/or review of contracting documents at the direction of the General Counsel.
  • Assist in implementation and management of policies and procedures repository; aide in oversight of policy compliance initiatives including support of review and approval cycles.
  • Support ongoing monitoring efforts, including tracking and monitoring of issues, documenting remediation efforts, reporting the same and liaising with external parties as necessary.
  • Manage administration of vendor oversight including supporting internal stakeholders with vendor sourcing and contracting, educating stakeholders regarding effective use of tooling, oversight of risk assessment, assembly of data/reports for relevant leadership.
  • Support administration and management of Legal/Compliance committees
  • Aide in general process management efforts for the Legal Department

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced software company supporting commercial transactions, ideally in the healthcare or benefits industries  
  • Paralegal certificate preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of healthcare, public health, wellness, insurance regulations/industry preferred, including but not limited to: HIPAA (Wellness & Privacy/Security), ERISA, EEOC, ACA, ADA, GINA
  • Experience supporting both commercial transactions and compliance functions
  • Prior experience in internal controls oversight & monitoring through knowledge of auditing, compliance and risk management best practices
  • Knowledge of third party oversight and vendor management governance and tooling
  • Experience supporting multi-state, federal and global privacy practices
  • Proficiency with contract management, vendor management and policy management tooling
  • Experience supporting board governance matters
