The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Senior Lead, Grants Finance.
The Senior Lead - Grants & Partnerships, South Asia is a full-time, temporary position for 1 year. The role reports to the Regional Director, Program Resourcing & Advancement and will be responsible for grant and restricted gift development, acquisition and management of a portfolio of corporate and institutional grants and restricted gifts for all South Asia programs. This position will serve as IJM’s point of contact with grantors and major donors, as required. This role will also be responsible to identify new funding opportunities in alignment with IJM SA’s strategic plans and lead in design and development of new proposals. The role will ensure that all grants are effectively managed from start-up to closeout in accordance with requirements and IJM standards. The position will be responsible for achievement of all grant deliverables within the planned budget and planned scope and will work closely with field leaders to ensure success. This role will also work to build capacity of IJM staff and local partners to ensure efficiencies in grant acquisition, reporting and budget management.

Effective grant proposal development resulting in increased resources for South Asia programs, as needed based on region’s capacity and need.

Effective grant proposal development for implementing partners as required and requested.

Ensure South Asia program execution and reporting is timely and comply with donor requirements.

Achievement of grant and budget objectives

Capacity building of field program staff and partners on grant requirements, communication and reporting processes, and other capacities related to grant proposal development and management.

Regular and effective coordination with donors contributing to strong relationships and positive evaluations of IJM grant performance.

Timely dissemination of downstream partner contracts and support to field offices to monitor partner activities and progress on grant deliverables when subcontracts are in place.
This position is based in the Washington, DC area and is available to be hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays). It reports to the Regional Director, Program Resourcing & Advancement and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.
Responsibilities:
Research, Program Management, and M&E:
-
Drive resources to IJM’s programs in South Asia through managing grant and restricted gift proposals in coordination with the relevant Regional and Global teams, including development of compelling project narratives, logical frameworks, and budgets.

Lead proposal development by project managing new opportunities.

Manage new and existing grants through the grant life cycle, leading grant start-up up and implementation, reporting, ongoing monitoring and evaluation, budget management, crisis management, sub-award management and close-out.

In collaboration with the field teams’ leads, facilitate development of detailed implementation plans, monitoring frameworks, and tools and systems to ensure optimal data capture, analysis and reporting for grants;

Support the field office in monitoring the progress of downstream partner activities toward grant deliverables.

Review monthly pipeline reports and ensure field programs team uses them for decision-making.
Networking & Partnership:
-
May serve as organizational POC for subgrantees/ downstream partners, which may include reviewing program reports, conducting monitoring visits, etc.

Support implementing partners during grant proposal development and grant management as requested and required.

Manage relationships with corporate and institutional grantors and grant implementing partners, in collaboration with other relationship owners from Global Programs and other Regional teams; serve as a liaison between them and the field team, guiding field teams to meet the requests of grantors in a timely manner.
Communication:
-
Provide materials and information regarding South Asia Region’s performance on grant objectives and overall program strategy and priorities as requested to internal and external stakeholders.

Communicate lessons learned and success stories to IJM and external stakeholders.
Training and Development:
-
Contextualize and develop training material for Field Offices and implementing partners on grant proposal development and grant management.
-
Liaise regularly with Global Grants team and ensure all grant staff are effectively trained on grant management.

Conduct periodic visits to the Field Offices to provide technical assistance and capacity building support as required.
Policies and Processes:
-
Ensure grants and restricted gifts are managed in accordance with applicable rules and regulations and internal policy.

Ensure that South Asia regional processes align with Global policies and processes, specifically related to grants, restricted gifts, and finance.

Ensure that all downstream partner subaward contracts are drafted in alignment with IJM and donor requirements.
General Accounting & Statutory Compliance:
-
Develop annual grant budgets and quarterly forecasts for respective grants for Global Finance and Grants Management teams. Work with field programs grant staff to ensure burn rate targets are achieved and/or variances are understood and explained.

Review monthly pipeline reports and ensure field program teams use them for decision-making.

Work with field programs teams to develop and maintain monthly detailed pipeline financial reports for grant portfolio.
Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:

Lead in the proposal development process by serving as lead writer and lead budgeter for various opportunities.

Ensure that field programs, relevant South Asia Leadership team members, and Global teams as relevant, have timely and accurate analysis of grant performance trends, grant impact or partner performance, and/or updates on communications with grantors.

Submit timely and accurate program reports for all assigned grants and major restricted gifts.

Oversee the development of annual grant budget and quarterly forecasts for respective grants with the Regional FP&A
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in international development, business administration, or a related field.
-
At least 5 years relevant professional work experience in proposal development and or grant management.
-
Demonstrated success in pitching for and managing large, complex, international grant relationships, projects and budgets.
-
Experience in corporate or institutional grant management, including proposal writing, implementation, and reporting, as well as grantor trust building and relationship management.
-
Knowledge of standards relating to program design, monitoring, and evaluation.
-
Prior international experience preferred.
-
Knowledge of US and foreign government regulations and requirements helpful.
Technical Competencies:

High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Salesforce CRM or similar data platforms.
