What is the point of this role?
The successful candidate will fill a key role supporting ANS infrastructure.
They will be responsible for ensuring service availability of critical components that make up ANS platforms. They will be responsible for working with the wider infrastructure team to keep the environment up to date via patching schedules and firmware upgrades and liaising with vendors across the stack to ensure interoperability and support.
The successful candidate would be expected to act as an escalation point both internally within the infrastructure team and for other technical teams providing expertise in {Insert relevant technologies} and work closely with the Team Leaders and Architects to implement our product roadmap and continual improvement program
What will I be doing?
- Monitor, diagnose and resolve problems within the ANS infrastructure
- Identify and resolve performance issues proactively
- Be an escalation point for team members and the support teams offering technical expertise in virtualization, compute hardware and storage
- Working with other technical teams to provide industry leading support to our customers
- Responsible for capacity management and platform growth
- Responsible for creating high quality documentation
- Proactively work to identify areas of improvement in the platform
- Maintain good interdepartmental relationships with other technical and commercial teams through regular interaction and collaboration.
- Mentor and train other team members
- Effectively deliver project milestones
- Responsible for the generation of LLD from HLD
- Ensure our infrastructure is up to date by planning & performing patching and firmware upgrades
- Working with vendors to raise escalations and troubleshoot issues
- Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation
- Out-of-hours work on core systems
- Escalation point for engineers within the team
- Leading small & medium project implementations, working on large scale projects
- Deliver working within ANS change control, CAB and incident management
- Plan, prepare and deliver for upcoming maintenance works.
- Lead and design small and medium scale PoC projects
- Working with product teams
What will I bring to the role?
- Previous experience as an infrastructure engineer working in a large scale enterprise or multi-tenant environment
- Experience with VMware 7.0+ (Experience with hosting provider specific technologies like Auto deploy or VVOLs is a bonus)
- Operational experience of NSX 3.0+
- Scripting abilities in Powershell and PowerCLI
- Experience with Cisco UCS or other enterprise blade systems
- Experience with Storage Technologies (HPE 3PAR, Nimble, Dell Compellent)
- Experience with FC storage networking
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms
- Proven technical ability and troubleshooting skills
- Experience leading large scale projects is desireable
- Ability to produce and maintain Low Level Design Documentation
