About the Opportunity:
The Electrical Engineer III is part of the Life Fitness Console Team responsible for the development of multimedia solutions for consumer and commercial cardiovascular and strength equipment. This candidate is required to lead the definition and development of entertainment systems utilizing content provided over various wired and wireless mediums. They will work within cross-functional teams to develop new product specifications and subsystem requirements; and as an individual contributor will design, validate and implement electronic designs. They will contribute to the definition of multimedia system architecture and implementation; create hardware and firmware requirements for module and peripheral validation and work directly with 3rd party solution providers to implement and validate designs; support product reliability and product test teams to create validation requirements and functional tests to qualify new system designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with new product teams, including external design partners to develop multimedia solutions including TV tuners, IPTV systems for fitness equipment.
  • Define and specify peripheral components such as WiFi, RFID, Bluetooth and NFC devices.
  • Direct/lead in electronic component selection and implementation.
  • Direct/lead in PCB layout, floor planning, component placement and design for EMC.
  • Provide guidance during circuit analyses including nominal and worst-case operating conditions of designs to assure that product fully meets specified requirements.
  • Validate system designs to agreed specifications.
  • Create detailed written test/evaluation procedures for medium complexity electronic subsystems and components.
  • Work with Reliability and Test teams to specify hardware and software requirements for new product validation.
  • Lead engineering analysis, evaluation and debug related to new designs.
  • Lead engineering analysis, data gathering and problem solving related to field issues.
  • Frequently support cross functional teams as required for field and warranty related issues.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in product development.
  • Experience w/ circuit design, schematic entry and PCB layout.
  • Experience with common peripheral interfaces; USB, I2C, SPI, ethernet.
  • Experience and knowledge of LCD display technologies and interfaces; LVDS, HDMI, MIPI.
  • Experience with common wireless technologies; WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC.
  • Experience using standard electronic instruments and measurement tools; multimeters, oscilloscopes.
  • Experience specifying filters and magnetic components for EMI suppression; ferrites, chokes.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Project and Visio).


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in multimedia solutions; Broadcast TV, IPTV
  • Experience certifying products to regulatory requirements (FCC, EN, KC, Anatel).
  • Experience qualifying wireless solutions governing bodies; WiFi Alliance, Bluetooth SIG, Qi.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering a plus
  • Android / Linux Operating Systems and/or Embedded Software Development experience a plus
  • People manager experience a plus
