The Sr. Analyst, Software Engineer – Procurement will play a pivotal role in executing the strategic vision for Procurement Analytics. The Procurement Analytics team is a new organization set to bring best-in-class tools and technology to automate reporting needs and driving insights for better spend management. The tools developed will allow the procurement teams to achieve effective category management, including overseeing Request for Proposals (RFPs) and sourcing negotiations. Additionally, analytics will provide appropriate savings tracking realized across procurement initiatives, prioritize analytics use cases, and codify best practices in analytics processes and metrics.
The Sr. Analyst, Software Engineer – Procurement will deliver on the various Procurement reporting and analytics initiatives. The individual will create and maintain ETL workflows. This role will be responsible for analyzing data to generate prescriptive and descriptive insights to drive spend optimization and insights. The individual will own the quality, design and standards related to the Procurement Tableau dashboards.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Collaboration: Work closely with procurement teams, IT, and other departments to understand data needs and enhance data quality and integrity for spend and supplier analytics, which answer critical business questions
- ETL Development: Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it for analysis, and load it into data warehouses or analytics platforms
- Data Engineering: Build and optimize data pipelines and architectures to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility for procurement analysis
- Data Analysis: Analyze procurement data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Provide recommendations for action
- Reporting: Develop and automate Tableau dashboards and reports that communicate key procurement metrics and insights to stakeholders. Hands-on with Tableau Desktop
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and tools, recommending improvements to current data processes and technologies
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Excel, Tableau; familiarity with Python/R is a plus
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Familiarity with Alteryx or a strong understanding of similar tools (e.g., Tableau Prep, Talend, Power Query) is a plus.
- Experience preferably in a procurement, finance or supply chain context.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High level of customer satisfaction (site and category managers)
