The Senior Benchmarking Engineer is responsible for evaluating and comparing the performance of Harman products against best-in-class industry competitors. The primary focus is on assessing and analyzing the product functionality, costs and key features to determine the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the product under evaluation.
Your Team
This position will report to the Benchmarking Engineering Lead and will be an individual contributor role with no direct or indirect reports.
What You Will Do
-
Evaluate competitors and industry benchmarks to understand how Harman products compares in terms of total value
-
Teardown (dismantle) of competitor benchmark products and analyze from a system/sub-system to component level; Identify key features and benefits that contribute to the overall value of the product

Create summary of Materials BOM, functionality characteristics & Manufacturing characteristics

Implement reliable benchmarking methodologies, processes and tools to assess the performance of Harman Automotive products such as
-
Intelligent Cockpit,
-
Car Audio,
-
Connectivity
-
ADAS)
-
Establish Benchmarking database in a structured manner & publish quantitative data on a regular basis to stakeholders

Remain current and conduct though research on technology, market monitoring OEM's, & competitors for future emerging trends of all Harman Products

Propose improvements based on benchmarking findings to support VM ideation

Participate in Ideation events – explain key functions, properties, key facts, highlights, and interaction of the different components

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Divisional Technology, engineering, manufacturing, and quality
What You Need
-
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
-
Minimum 5 years work experience in one or more of the following areas:
-
Product development VA/VE of preferably automotive systems
-
Engineering electrical and automotive (E)/mechanical components
-
Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in reverse engineering high technology electronics products and related data analysis
-
Fundamental knowledge in electronic, electrical & mechanical component integrated into an assembly
-
Need to be able to identify & analyze why parts are made the way they are / design configuration / make innovative recommendations (clever /smart / ideas) to Advance development for functional design solutions which could improve the design.

Experience with complex components, modules, assemblies

Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical topics through structure solutions. Must be able to influence others to drive alignment on proposed technical solutions.

Excellent presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics

Experience working in a fast paced, highly measured, results focused environment

Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of a global organization
