As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting operations, reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of all general ledger functions including accounts payables and receivables, general ledger analysis, budget variances, benchmark ratio preparation, and project and expenditures monitoring.

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate across internal and external teams to develop solutions to support the company's financial objectives while ensuring the quality and integrity of the financial information generated from a variety of systems. As the Senior Accountant you will strive to promote innovation, continually improving operational and financial effectiveness while ensuring compliance with GAAP and the company's policies and procedures.

What you'll do

  • Participate in the preparation of the Company's internal financial statements, including variance analysis, written commentary on significant fluctuations, and summaries of financial highlights, in coordination with other members of the Finance team and for distribution to senior management.
  • Assist with year-end responsibilities including financial statement consolidation, reconciliation of equity accounts, and various analytics.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for various balance sheet and P&L accounts. Ensure and validate that proper supporting documentation is obtained for all entries from the Finance teams, acting as gatekeeper for company books and records.
  • Lead the periodic review of all balance sheet accounts across the Company and report significant findings to management.
  • Seek to improve the overall reconciliation, analysis and review of balance sheets, possibly through utilization of an automated tool.
  • Aid in the submission of business unit results to the parent company financial reporting system. This includes ownership and complexity of mapping and reconciliation of results between multiple systems, including tie-points, transaction controls and period consolidated reporting.
  • Perform special projects and provide analytical support as requested by management.
  • Participate in the preparation and collection of information required for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and provide general accounting support to the Finance and Accounting team as needed.
  • Prepare white paper write-ups to justify U.S. GAAP accounting application to specific complex transactions, responsible for both the research and write-up.
  • Follow emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Company's results and financial position and lead implementation of new accounting standards.

You have...

  • Bachelor's degree – Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management.
  • CPA or in active pursuit of CPA (eligible).
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, and ability to use these tools to create efficiencies.
  • Experience with financial accounting software and reporting tools.

Pluses 

  • 2+ years of big four, or 4-5 years in an accounting role strongly preferred.
  • Accounting experience in a consumer goods company preferred.

The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
