About the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures

A new and exciting institution being built at Cornell University, the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures (RJEF), is Cornell's hub for research and engagement that builds towards a more just world. RJEF is a university wide center focused on three core pillars: faculty, students, and community. Through supporting research, facilitating engagement, strengthening communities of learning, and advancing specific initiatives around issues of urgent importance, RJEF will leverage the knowledge and capacities of Cornell faculty, students, and institutions to positively impact the world.

The Opportunity

The RJEF Program Coordinator will support programming activities and community partnerships at the Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures. This includes working closely with RJEF leadership on the execution of projects and the development of new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support and coordination for RJEF programs and assist in strategic and operational planning.
  • Oversee the application, review, and selection processes for RJEF programs, including developing applications and tracking materials.
  • Coordinate event planning, including budgeting, scheduling, and evaluating program effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies and materials for RJEF programs.
  • Manage program budgets, monitor purchases, and assist with grant compliance and reporting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, create, manage and evaluate both new and existing programs.
  • Assist with meeting project-related grant benchmarks, requirements, and deliverables in pre- and post-grant phases.
  • Handle program-related contracts as needed.
  • Serve as backup to RJEF Admin Assistant and assist with daily office operations.
  • Help develop and maintain social media strategies and participate in other assigned projects.

This is a full-time position that is based in Ithaca, NY and fully on-site.

What We Need

We are looking for a team member who is passionate about racial justice and culturally competent. Additionally, you will: 

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 2 years of relevant administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have experience with administrative program support.
  • Have ability to work on multidisciplinary teams, providing creative and critical independent thinking while also considering diverse opinions and approaches.
  • Have the aptitude to manage multiple competing deadlines and be flexible with changing work priorities.
  • Be capable of working in a collaborative environment.
  • Have experience and skill using and learning different software packages and web-based tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Zoom or videoconferencing software, and Qualtrics).

If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it’s ok if you don’t:

  • Significant experience working with community-based organizations.
  • Experience working within academic centers or institutions.
