Leidos is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Proposal Writer to support business development and capture efforts within the Health and Civil Sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the research and creation of proposal sections, such as an executive summary, technical, management, and/or past performance volume. In this role, you will be required to work closely and collaboratively with a team of professionals across specialties – including Capture Managers, Solution Architects, Program Managers, and technical experts – to craft compliant and compelling content for white papers, responses for information (RFIs), proposals, and other ad hoc assignments in support of Leidos’ Federal Health customers.
You must possess the ability to work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to quickly build an understanding of highly technical concepts (software development, cloud hosting, cybersecurity, AI/ML, data analytics etc.). You must have the ability to work independently with a strong sense of pride in developing quality written documents in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
The location for this position is at Leidos Headquarters in Reston Virginia, with occasional travel for in-person support at other Leidos offices such as Gaithersburg, MD for major proposal efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:

Interview Solution Architects and SMEs to document concepts, write responses, and articulate solutions, translating highly technical and complex concepts into easily understandable text for a variety of audiences.

Collaborate with Capture Managers, Solution Architects, Program Managers and Volume Leads to drive development of proposal responses and ensure written responses align with proposal requirements.

When necessary, coordinate across multiple departments to support proposal efforts.

Take ownership of assigned volumes, driving development to meet deadlines and develop quality written responses.

Actively participate in team solutioning sessions to articulate solution, strategy, approach to performing the work, experience, win themes, and discriminators.

Maintain version control of documents.

Review and edit documents (Microsoft Word and PowerPoint) for formatting, grammar, and quality of responses.

Incorporate comments from multiple sources into documents and presentations, adjudicate comments from reviewers, and track status of reviewer comments.

Develop and implement process improvements to enhance proposal quality throughout the Business Area.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of professional experience or master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.

Experience working as a writer from pre-to post-RFP phases of proposals responding to Federal Government solicitations with a facility with technical concepts.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and basic understanding of SharePoint repositories.

Experience with VisibleThread and PleaseReview a plus.

Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills.

Strong work ethic and desire to excel and keep growing over time.

Fluency with highly technical concepts and ability to learn new concepts quickly.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
