Product Manager Data Backbone

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Product Manager to drive the future of Fugro’s Data Backbone. As the worlds leading Geo-data company, we use planes, trains, cars, boats, submarines, and robots to map and model the environment and its infrastructure so that structures can be reliably built, run, and maintained. Fugro involves various data acquisition, processing, and delivery steps to service its customers.

In this role, you act as owner of the Data Backbone. You work together with architects, product owners, developers and management to ensure a quality index of this data and make it accessible and visible to engineers across the globe. By doing this, you reduce costs and improve efficiency throughout the organization.

You are the ideal candidate if you employ a customer-centric approach, engaging closely with users to understand their needs and iteratively improve the product through continuous feedback. You work closely with design, subject matter experts and solution architects to ensure, usability, business viability, and technical feasibility.

Your role

• You define the business and technology vision of the Data Backbone in collaboration with different domain experts, business representatives, solution architect and lead engineers;  

• You lead the whole process from discovery, build, adopt and run cycle. And during the discovery phase you map the current Data Backbone in various global regions and define a to-be standard;  

• You make sure that the assumptions and designs are validated before major build investment;   

• You guide the delivery teams towards the required situation;   

• You create continuous discovery and improvement process to feed in the requirements from the users and set the necessary prioritization criteria in the delivery phase;    

• You organize the adoption of Data Backbone in various Fugro regions globally with clear rollout plans and support;   

• You define OKR for your product and govern it with stakeholders.    

Your track record

• You have extensive experience in similar roles such as digital product manager;

• You have extensive experience in leading cross functional teams, project management and stakeholder management;

• You have experience in developing data platforms and knowledge on (meta) data management;

• You are familiar with DataBricks, Apache Kafka, and AWS;

• Experience with Geo-data is considered a strong plus;
