The RoleWe are seeking a Principal Technical Support Engineer to join our Asset Performance Management (APM) Technical Support team. The ideal candidate should be able to learn new concepts quickly, be an innovative thinker, demonstrate high initiative, have great communication skills and work to the highest ethical standards.

Your Impact

  • Solving customer problems with our APM software via telephone/web, deploying APM software.
  • Delivering high quality training on our APM product line and other department projects.
  • Provide customer specific reviews, health checks and guidance to holistically solve customers’ business problems.
  • Drive improvement in APM software. 
  • Develop and maintain APM training course materials.
  • Author, review and approve technical white papers for publication to AspenTech’s web knowledge base.
  • Lead a small team functioning as subject matter experts (SME) to drive improved product quality.
  • Manage customer escalations and drive holistic resolution cross-functionally within AspenTech. 
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects as needed with regular updates to an AspenTech management team. 

What You'll Need

  • BS in Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Data Science or related technical discipline. 
  • Experience working in oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, pulp & paper, mining, or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Methods, data analysis, machine learning, AI, Python, SQL.
  • Prior exposure to Aspen Tech products or competitor tools is desirable.
  • Experience in process control equipment maintenance is desirable.
  • Detail-oriented with hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong customer first mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and competing priorities.
  • Ability to travel. Travel is usually less than 25% and may be international.
