About the Role
This position is within HARMAN’s Automotive Engineering department, The primary responsibility is to develop the system architecture/internal requirement document especially software parts according to analysis on customer requirement and internal platform requirement and provide decomposed major building blocks to related disciplines in Harman. Also, the position will be the bridge between the customer and internal engineering teams and clarify customer requirement with customer/internal teams in order to avoid any misunderstanding and/or misinterpretation and to prevent any conflict/gap between customer requirement and internal platform requirement. The Engineering team is looking for the ultimate team player and positive thinking, customer satisfying person. The Successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success with Telematics/HMI engineering and customer facing interaction.
Your Team
Direct report to Sr. Project Manager and dot line to Sr. Engineering Manager.
What You Will Do
- Based on customer requirement and internal standard, generic platform requirement, MNO requirement, wireless standard and regulation.
- Distribute customer requirement to project stakeholders (e.g. Functional Owner, Project Manager) for analysis and derivation of system requirement.
- Track and report missing analysis information. Also support the vehicle testing for both internal and external purposes.
- Review with a customer to reach consensus of the requirement specification to avoid any misunderstanding/misinterpretation and propose alternative counterproposal if necessary.
- Review with internal team to reach consensus of the requirement specification and create technical documents like statement diagram, internal communication sequence diagram. (Especially platform team to avoid any conflict/gap against customer requirement) .
- Trigger our internal team for analyze and manage change request from a customer
- Verify completeness of requirement implementation at each customer and internal event.
- Review a deviation list of each delivery with a customer in advance and align with.
- Act as representing person from entire Harman team, lead customer communications to get consensus with a customer when internal team raises a proposal.
- Develop/Support the system architecture according to the system requirement (customer requirements and internal platform requirement) which should take into account entire vehicle system (connected other ECUs) and decompose them into major building blocks and functional groups.
- Analyze architectural problems, define risks and manage resolutions in cooperation with internal team. Ensure the system architecture which can meet requirements in functionality, performance, quality and schedule.
- This position is the primary technical face of Harman for Telematics/HMI products to OEM customer(s) from requirement/system perspective.
- Work closely with other team members, includes PM, hardware engineers, software engineers, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality assurance departments to drive successful project delivery to meet timing, cost and quality.
- Attend customer meeting along with other Haman disciplines.
- Develop customer intimacy.
What You Need
- Software design/creating experience for business products
- Project management experience for software products
- Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business.
- Fluent in Japanese (Read, Write and Speaking) to communicate with customers.
- English skill to communicate with oversea teams.
What is Nice to Have
- Excellent system understanding in Telematics products or wireless technology (e.g. WiFi, 4G/LTE/5G, Bluetooth, etc.).
- Experience in working with global teams with all levels of a matrixed organization.
- Automotive CAN/Ethernet experiences preferred.
- Embedded system design experience or familiarity preferred
- Knowledge of project management tool (e.g. JIRA)
