Job Title: Principal, Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Equity

You will be a senior member of the ICG Asia-Pacific Infrastructure team, and will play a key role in the identification, evaluation, recommendation, execution and management of investment opportunities in the energy transition, sustainability, and digital infrastructure space with a particular initial focus on renewable energy sub-sectors.
Working closely with the senior leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of a transaction, which includes conducting the financial due diligence and analysis, preparing the business case and gathering supporting bid documentation. In addition, the individual will initially be leading with post-investment asset management responsibilities working closely with the portfolio company executive management, and will transition toward also originating new investment opportunities that meet our Japan infrastructure strategy. The candidate will also be involved in fundraising and investor management activities.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned investment professional, recognized for their innovative problem solving and financial acumen. They will bring forth a depth of knowledge in the renewable power, and will have built a robust business sense and investment judgement, with a strong track-record of stakeholder engagement and network of partners to source and execute on opportunities.
Primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
Asset Management

Constantly and strategically thinking of ways to improve portfolio companies / investments, functional units within the platform and the company as a whole

Work with management teams on strategic business initiatives at portfolio companies and help work through critical issues and leverage senior network to assist working through obstacles, if required

Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of investments
Origination

Support the implementation of the Japan investment strategy

Lead investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and assist in developing ideas for a transaction / deal structure

Network and develop new investment ideas to grow the business
Execution

Lead the team in all stages of a transaction’s life cycle (origination, underwriting, acquisition and disposition), collaborating with internal functional partners and business group leads as well as interfacing with counterparties and external advisors;

Lead the due diligence process for a transaction that supports the validation of the business case supporting an acquisition and identify key transaction issues.

Lead negotiation, documentation and structuring of the transaction with support from team
Lead the preparation and presentation of investment materials to senior internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise and articulate manner with support from team
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
You will have demonstrable experience of:

More than 12 years of experience as an investment or relevant industry professional;

Exposure to the infrastructure and / or renewable power and transition industry in Japan

A proven track record of leading a team throughout the end-to-end execution of a transaction;

Superior due diligence capabilities;

Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders;

Exercises sound and thoughtful judgement with strong leadership abilities to empower and mobilize a team

Organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in situations with changing priorities and multiple simultaneous assignments;

Ability to work with deal team members that are located across geographies.
