MetLife has launched a new software platform solution, Upwise, to drive employee benefits literacy and engagement. Upwise includes a decision support capability to assist employees in choosing their benefits AND a benefits communication capability to provide personalized education, guidance, and reminders about benefits usage throughout the year. MetLife's goal is to engage employees in their employer benefits by helping them to choose the right benefits and by helping them make the most of their benefits throughout the year. Benefits Engagement is a critical lever in overall employee engagement; yet 53% of employees report they are confused about their employer benefit options. MetLife's new platform is a revolutionary digital solution that addresses the issue of benefits literacy for employees and the issue of employee engagement for employers. It will enhance MetLife's overall value proposition to employers and create stickier relationships with them.
The Benefits Engagement Platform was launched in market in January 2024. MetLife's goal is to for all employer customers with 1,000 or more employees to adopt the platform. An extensive library of sales collateral has been provided to the salesforce and a robust training curriculum has been executed in Q1 and early Q2.
We seek a National Product Director to support the salesforce in their efforts to gain platform adoption for this new offering. The National Product director is passionate about our mission to educate and support employees as it relates to the selection and usage of their employer benefits. They are highly motivated by achieving quantitative sales goals and are relentless when it comes to achieving those goals. Where there are impediments, they develop solutions. Where help is needed with a sale, they develop targeted strategies to close the deal.
The National Product Director will report to the VP Product COE / Broker Comm Firm Management.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sales Opportunity Support
- Best-in-class training (internal and external) Support
- Serve as Industry Leader for Upwise for MetLife
- Serve as key contact with Upwise Consultants and brokers
- Subject Matter Expertise and Competitive Intelligence for Benefits Engagement Products
- Enhance partnerships by building, growing and maintaining relationships with sales partners, intermediaries and peers
- Promote positive culture within assigned product vertical and the COE
- Compliance with policy guidelines and adherence to assigned budgets, as applicable, including 30 day expense reimbursement submissions
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- College degree required, advanced degree a plus
• Experience in sales or sales support roles
• 3+ years' experience in Group Benefits
• Strong analytical skills to mine data to identify pockets of opportunity
• Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization to align and influence key stakeholders
• Highly motivated by achieving quantitative goals
- Exceptional communication and presentation
Key Responsibilities
• Developing strategies for competing against specific competitors in the market. Align closely with Account Executives and the platform vendor's wholesaling team to do this.
• Tracking pipeline opportunities and providing product support to sales teams to help them close sales
• Promoting product opportunities and delivering key updates in internal meetings with the field
• Participating in positioning/solutioning for integration with key third-party entities (BenAdmins, HCMs)
• Continuously updating sales messaging based on which messages are working and which are not
• Developing targeted sales training programs for customer facing MetLife personnel
• Working with the marketing team to develop customer retention strategies
• Supporting RFP responses
• Recommending and supporting collateral updates as the market develops and shifts
The salary range for applicants for this position is $110,000 +.
