WZZM 13 ON YOUR SIDE, the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate in West Michigan is seeking a Producer to join our team.
We’re looking for a self-starter who can create informative, engaging & memorable newscasts. Our producers are more than show stackers – they seek out and produce impactful content. Must be passionate about winning weather, aggressive on breaking news and owning the big story of the day. This position requires leadership, at least one year producing in a commercial TV newsroom and solid decision-making skills.

Responsibilities:
•    Strong leadership and communication skills
•    Create informative, engaging & memorable newscasts
•    Write in a captivating, conversational, and concise style.
•    Be able to control & monitor breaking news and weather situations.
•    Develop original content ideas through social and independent sources.
•    Research for facts and credibility.
•    Use creative production techniques to enhance stories. Build graphics and use effectively in shows.
•    Line-produce live newscast and streaming content
•    Communicate with anchors/reporters, assignment desk, field crews, production team, and others to ensure execution of a high-quality newscast.
•    Ability to shoot and edit video and post content to digital platforms
•    Perform other newsroom tasks as needed.
Requirements:
•    At least one year experience producing/line producing for newscasts, however strong entry-level candidates will be considered.
•    BA/BS in journalism, communications or related.
•    Perform other tasks as required by News Director, Executive Producer & Senior Producer.
•    Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook.
•    Ability to post news and breaking news when it happens on web and social media.
•    Knowledge of newsroom producing and editing systems preferred.
•    Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time sensitive deadlines.
•    Experience calmly handling live, breaking news situations, and changing events
•    Willingness to work flexible schedules including overnights, holidays and weekends.
