As a member of the Telesat Mission Assurance Team, you will partner closely with our program management teams to provide the required Mission Assurance support. You will assist in identifying, developing and deploying the necessary processes through the design lifecycle, procurement, manufacturing or delivery of services, test, and initial operations of the program. Job activities may include program quality planning, cross-functional business and production process development, process implementation, assessing and implementation of corrective actions and improvements.
Main Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact for constellation segment mission assurance activities and deliverables
- Working with Telesat engineers, staff and suppliers to implement the mission assurance program requirements
- Review and approval of quality plans to contractual requirements
- Participate in design and manufacturing reviews to ensure the necessary quality criteria and provisions to permit effective design, manufacture, inspection, test and integration of product and software
- Review engineering and supplier documentation to determine quality requirements
- Lead the review and disposition of non-conforming material.
- Initiate Corrective Action and Preventive Action processes.
- Perform assessments, inspections, or audits of Telesat or its suppliers
- Establish trend analysis of performance metrics, identifying appropriate actions to correct and drive needed improvement
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of experience in a mission assurance or quality role, preferably in the field of satellites or the telecom industry
- Expertise in failure and anomaly investigation, corrective and preventative action
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with engineers, internal and external stakeholders, senior management and staff
- Ability to assess technical status and issues in hardware, software and operations
- Experience in performing internal and supplier audits
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement identification and implementation
- Professionalism and takes direction well; organized, displays sound judgment, has solid problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Capacity to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities
- High level of expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Ability to work in a fast pace, changing environment
Decision Making & Supervision
- This role supports the Director, Telesat Lightspeed Mission Assurance via the Program Delivery Office. As a Mission Assurance Specialist, you will be expected to make informed recommendations to the Lightspeed Program.
- This role has no direct reports, but may work and interact with multi-disciplinary engineering, supply chain, contracts, legal, and commercial teams
Working Conditions
- Occasional travel, including international travel is anticipated
- Candidate must be able to obtain relevant security clearance
- This position requires the employee to be onsite a minimum of 4 days per week. The optional day is Wednesday
