Job Overview: 

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Marketing Manager position blends content development, brand strategy, and project management to drive sales leads and raise the profile of the company. From short-form social media posts to in-depth case studies, we produce a variety of content, all anchored on our role as a knowledgeable advisor, providing models, forecasts, and insights that support significant investment decisions to steward capital and maximize the operational value of these investments. 

This role works closely with many parts of the organization, including other marketing team members, product managers, business development, analysts, and the C-suite. A key skill is taking in technical and “wonky” information and transforming it into clear, compelling writing that elevates and differentiates Ascend to a highly sophisticated audience. 

 

Job Responsibilities  

  • Lead content creation across many platforms and channels, including social media, case studies, sales collateral, internal reference materials, market-facing email updates, blog posts, website, and others 
  • Gain a depth of understanding across all of Ascend’s product offerings to be able to communicate their value proposition, as well as understand how changing market forces affect our messaging  
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to proactively develop compelling content and thought leadership ideas that align with market trends and the news cycle 
  • Own the Ascend Analytics brand voice 
  • Initiate, manage, and optimize marketing tasks and collaborate broadly across the organization to execute projects 
  • Analyze data and metrics, measuring and communicating performance 
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards to communicate marketing results with stakeholders 
  • Be a proactive, positive member of the marketing team, working collaboratively with efforts across demand generation, public relations, conferences & events, and other marketing efforts 

  

 Required Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, English, or other relevant field of study required   
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience developing content in B2B, energy, and/or technology industries 
  • Passion for renewable energy and supporting the energy transition  
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to distill complex ideas and concepts into clear, compelling writing 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with many levels and backgrounds to mine subject matter expertise in service of storytelling 
  • Excellent and efficient computer skills and proficiency in:  
  • MS Office Suite 
  • Working knowledge of technical marketing tools across CRM, social, and B2B marketing 
  • Eager to wear many hats and adopt new skills 
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and time management excellence  
  • Ability to independently manage workload and prioritize tasks  
  • Able to work on-site in our Boulder, CO office 3+ days/week. We have a desirable location and a lively cohort, so an in-office presence is a must 

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications 

  • Previous technical writing experience, especially in the energy space 
  • Passion for clean energy, renewables, and the clean energy transition

Compensation: $75,000 - $110,000 annually.  Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
