Job Description:

Do you have knowledge of inland shipping in Europe and a passion for safety then you could be our new colleague! Have you had a career on barges and/or in an inland shipping HSSEQ orientated environment and would you like to have direct responsibility for the quality assurance of Inland Barges in support of the safe transportation of bulk liquid across the European rivers on a contractor basis? Then we are looking for you.

The role

The contractor role of Maritime Assurance Assessor Inland is part of Shell’s regional vetting team based in Rotterdam and in this role, you will be responsible for support to confidential vetting and screening of barges offered for all forms of Shell employment. Typical activities in support of this are: risk assessing and rating of inspection reports, inspecting barges, management reviews, managing OCIMF BIRE BIQ applications in support of Shell’s interest, act as regional team focal point and liaison for the management of Time Charter assurance, act as OCIMF inspection regime focal point for inland shipping EU (Barges) and perform contract management activities for barge inspection contractors.

Required competencies

In possession of “Rijnpatent” or Nationally recognized Barge Master license or Extensive day-to-day experience in barge operations. Conversant with national legislation (e.g. ADN, RPR) and Industry standards, codes and guidelines (e.g. ES-TRIN, ES-QIN, ES-RIS, ISGINNT). Ability to assess HSSE performance, contractual compliance and performance aligned with management controls described by TMSA. Team player with strong communications skills and fluency in English and Dutch or German
