Leads the build out, development, and management of a team of developers, who will establish and help in building and maintaining systems, platforms and tools. They rapidly deliver world class software solutions to T-Mobile business customers both internal and external.
The Device Finance Platform team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Manager to lead our skilled development team. You will be able to make a huge impact on world-class system development. Your passion for delivering highly secure, highly resilient and high-performance system solutions will contribute directly to the transformation of T-Mobile as a data-informed, AI-enabled, digital-first company. Our team is responsible for building vital backend systems that support T-Mobile device financial products and services. We work closely with multi-functional teams to deliver seamless customer experiences and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Effectively manage a team of 5-10 software engineers and SREs.
- Provide career development plans, ensuring assignments with growing levels of responsibility.
- Foster a healthy team working culture.
- Interview and hire qualified team members, striving to scale teams.
Collaboration and Execution:
- Collaborate with Product Management, partner engineering groups, and business collaborators to define and prioritize development roadmaps.
- Translate business goals into technical work and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality solutions and seamless customer experiences.
- Drive operational efficiency by implementing standard processes in software development and delivery.
Technical Leadership:
- Define and drive continuous development practice improvements across technical fields and organizations.
- Manage the current and future state platform roadmap in collaboration with Design and Enterprise Architecture.
Program and Project Management:
- Manage numerous projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and objectives.
- Identify and mitigate development risks, resolve dependencies, and ensure effective communication across teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams.
- Strong technical background in software development methodologies, frameworks, and technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Passion for innovation and a track record of fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and backend system development.
- Expertise with high-resilience and high-performing system design.
- Experience with Gitlab/Github CI/CD pipeline, Oracle DB, SaaS, PaaS, Private & Public Clouds, distributed system design, microservices, Kubernetes, containerized applications, Splunk, Java, SQL, Python.
- Strong skills in coding, troubleshooting, debugging, and data modeling.
- Capability of managing aggressive project development and on-time delivery.
- AI/ML experience will be a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or software engineering preferred.

Base Pay Range: $136,600 - $246,300
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
