The Manager of Payroll in Germany will lead a team, overseeing payroll processes, time management, and various payroll systems. They will initiate process improvements, manage projects, and ensure compliance with German tax and social security law while maintaining quality and performance standards.

Your responsibilities:
- Functional and disciplinary leadership of direct reports.
- Responsible for all activities performed by the team members, including accurate and timely Time Management and Payroll run, Payroll Reporting, pre and post payroll run activities.
- Responsible for the Time Management and Payroll systems in use.
- Initiate, manage, drive and own improvements to processes and systems.
- Project lead for technical and functional payroll projects, such as payroll system implementation or process harmonization.
- Support the Global HR & Payroll management.
- Function as the first level of escalation for functional and disciplinary issues.
- Identifying and initiating continuous improvements to services and processes in coordination with the responsible manager.
- Ensuring the quality of team performance and initiating quality improvement measures.
- Assessment of risks in own area of responsibility and implementation or recommendation of suitable countermeasures.
- Representation of the organization when talking to cross-functional stakeholders, business partners and external groups.
- Responsible for processes in a highly complex environment including complex systems.
- Advising managers and HR staff on questions relating to the area of responsibility.
- Correspondence with employees, external bodies and authorities.
- Project work with relevant topic.
Our requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Accounting, or Finance is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in German payroll, preferably without a vendor.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in team management (team of min. 5 people).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, process management, risk management, quality management & compliance, data protection & IT security.
- Experience with German tariff agreements.
- Experience with various Time Management and PY systems.
- Experience with Workday (HCM) preferred.
- Process and solution-oriented thinking and acting.
- Able to analyze and evaluate issues with regard to legal and internal company processes.
- Personality with the necessary sensitivity for dealing with other cultures.
- Thorough and meticulous with a good feel for facts and numbers.
- Proactive and independent way of working.
- Reliability, ability to work in a team, high level of commitment and flexibility and well versed in dealing with customers and employees.
- Good communication with various departments.
- Knowledge and experience in people management.
- Substantial knowledge of the German tax and social security law.
- Good understanding of the tariff system and local shop agreements in Germany.
- Good understanding of the dependencies and cooperation of payroll, finance and controlling
- PC skills (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.).
