Legal & Compliance Head Southern Europe & Italy
About the role:
The primary purpose of this job is to provide strategic legal leadership and business partnering to Business Heads within the Southern Europe (SE) region and at the country level, specifically for Italy. This involves embedded business partnering for the SE Business Unit (BU) and Italy.

Managing the complexity of a single market (Italy) along with overseeing the SE BU.

Supporting business heads to achieve goals by considering the best legal alternatives and providing business solutions.

Excellent stakeholder management and multi-area collaboration.

Identifying business challenges and proactively proposing/adjusting the legal support required.

Effective communication with logic in writing and speaking, and having executive presence.

Balancing between protecting and enabling the business: establishing boundaries of “no go” while proactively identifying opportunities to navigate in grey areas.

Fostering a culture of integrity and accountability, by questioning business practices/initiatives which appear inconsistent with the Code and/or Compliance policies

Providing first line advice to the business on Compliance matters, escalating complex/material issues to Group in a timely manner and remaining abreast of local law requirements/enforcement trends
Key Responsibilities:
Member of both SE Leadership Team (LT) and Italy LT – clear understanding of the business needs and drive legal priorities accordingly as a strategic business partner. Provide pragmatic and proactive legal service that enables and protects the business. Adapt internal processes to the external environment (both commercial and regulatory) with effectiveness and agility. Proactively drive change and leverage knowledge sharing within the region and among other Legal, Compliance, and Corporate Services (LCCS) areas. Management of senior lawyers that lead the support to both the BU and Italian market. Experience with cross-regional legal matters and stakeholders management, good knowledge of regulatory matters, and people management.

Requirements
Must Have:

Experience in providing legal support to multiple countries within Europe.

8+ years of experience as an In-House Lawyer.

Strong technical skills in commercial and consumer law.

People skills – empathetic, good listener, capability to achieve objectives through others.

Previous experience with FMCGs, or Tech, or Retail industries, preferably multinationals.

Fluent in English.
-
Fluent/native Italian.
Nice to Have:

Knowledge of labor, competition, and privacy laws.

Experience in Compliance.

Experience with managing small teams, preferably multicultural ones.

Knowledge of Spanish/Portuguese.
