Job Summary

The Director of Pro Analytics will play a key role in driving data-driven strategies across the High Performance, Coaching Staff, and Soccer Operations departments. This position is responsible for aggregating and analyzing diverse data sets to develop tailored models and performance metrics that inform critical decision-making. In addition to creating and maintaining data models, the Director will optimize the existing LA Galaxy infrastructure to build an internal web platform, enabling streamlined access to reports and analytical tools. Core responsibilities include designing innovative data visualizations, delivering actionable insights, and enhancing the overall efficiency and impact of data usage within the LA Galaxy soccer organization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance data-driven models to support Soccer Operations, High Performance, and the Galaxy Coaching Staff. Leverage advanced analytical tools, including Power BI, SQL, SAS, R, and Python, to generate actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and optimize performance outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to ensure the timely delivery of accurate and insightful reports to relevant departments. Act as a key liaison for sharing data-driven insights and quantitative information across all aspects of Soccer Operations, fostering informed decision-making and strategic alignment.
  • Design, build, and maintain an internal web platform that provides seamless access to data models, performance metrics, and reports. Ensure the platform supports first-team recruitment and team performance evaluation, driving efficiency and enhancing data accessibility for key stakeholders.
  • Support the First Team Video Analyst by developing and implementing automation solutions to streamline the tagging and analysis of game footage. Enhance efficiency in opposition analysis and game reviews by reducing manual tasks and optimizing video-related workflows.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Technical Director to develop and refine player recruitment strategies. Utilize data-driven insights and analytical models to identify potential talent, evaluate player performance, and support strategic decision-making in the recruitment process.
  • Partner with the High Performance department to create models that monitor physical load, player availability, and overall fitness levels. Develop predictive models to identify risks of injury and overuse, supporting proactive intervention and optimal player performance management.
  • Participate in daily meetings with Soccer Operations and High Performance staff to review and align on the strategic plan for each day of training. Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize training sessions and player development.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and analysis to the General Manager and First Team Head Coach. Deliver actionable insights and data-driven recommendations to support strategic planning, performance evaluation, and key decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) - Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or Analytics
  • 4-6 years of Experience in data analytics, data science, or performance analysis within sports organizations, professional leagues (e.g., MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL), or related industries such as sports technology or sports consulting.
  • Experience with statistical programming packages like SAS, SPSS, R, or Python
  • Experience with working with sports data and modeling
  • Experience building or managing internal data platforms and databases, ensuring they are scalable, user-friendly, and provide real-time insights.
  • Experience with athlete management systems and modeling to reduce injury
  • Experience with database systems such as AWS and SQL preferred
  • Experience using BI tools (PowerBI/Tableau/Looker) to create interactive data visualizations and reports
  • Experience working with a professional sports organization working alongside sport specific front office and coaching staff
  • Experience, proficiency, and working knowledge of SQL and data warehousing

Pay Transparency: $149,812.00 - $204,290.00
