Title: JIB Accountant
Hiring Manager: Accounting Supervisor
Location: Houston, TX
Position Summary
A Joint Interest Billing (“JIB”) accountant is needed within the JIB/AR group to support the Accounting Department. This person would report to the Accounting Supervisor and is in downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with monthly joint interest billing process
- Process monthly rebills as required
- Apply cash accounts receivable payments
- Resolve owner inquiries
- Prepare and record journal entries related to JIB accounts as required
- Prepare account reconciliations, complete JI Audit requests and maintain SOX compliance
- Assist with special projects or other accounting related assignments as requested

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related degree
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively within all areas of the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 50 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications
- Oil and Gas accounting experience
- Experience with Enertia, OpenInvoice, and EnergyLink systems
- Ability to think creatively and bring ideas to the table to improve processes
- Strong Team Building Skills
