As a High-Level Controls Support Engineer, you will analyze and assist in servicing baggage handling system controls software. You are responsible for helping the operation and maintenance team find and resolve system issues, researching solutions, and proposing changes to the system. You will have frequent contacts with customers, internal organization, and suppliers.
As a High-Level Controls Support Engineer you have a strong affinity with Oracle database and Java oriented software combined with the Linux platform they run on.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
As High-Level Controls Support Engineer you report to the Maintenance Manager. Based on your field of interest there is opportunity to grow to a specialized or manager role within the service or project execution department.
Your department:
The Changi Operation and Maintenance Team is part of the APAC Lifecycle Services (LCS) in the Business unit Airport & Parcel Solutions (APS) within Vanderlande Industries. The primary task is to support Changi T1.
The department works in an international team setting with people from different countries with different cultural backgrounds.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify problems and perform root cause analysis of upper-level control software of Vanderlande baggage handling system, in close collaboration with other teams.
- Review system and application logs to trace issues and gather information for analysis.
- Develop and maintain customer specific validation test processes and reports for change control log.
- Continuously monitor IT infrastructure, application, and material handling application environment.
- Triage all events reported and maintain incident reports.
- Planning and delivering preventive maintenance tasks & assigned change tasks (back-ups, patch execution, etc.)
- Primary point of contact for customers, so it’s important to have good communication skills. Taking ownership is your core value.
- Analyze problems by asking the right questions, you listen to the customer, and you translate your findings into a technical solution.
- Have a systematic way of troubleshooting a problem top-down or bottom-up, whichever is required.
- Think in cause-effect advising the customer on the next cause of action minimizing downtime for the operation.
- Take pro-active measures based on own insight, lifecycle plans or preventive maintenance plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, information systems, or a related field of study.
- Preferably you have good understanding of IT service management practices (ITIL v3/v4)
- Affinity with IT and Industrial Automation and interested in logistic processes.
- 5 years of relevant working experience systems within the baggage handling or airport industry.
- Hands-on experience with ORACLE SQL and JAVA software development is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with LINUX and network communications is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Systems Engineering and / or Software development
- Basic knowledge of testing methodologies and troubleshooting techniques
- Good communication skills in English
- Assertive team player and proactive
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment and be on-call as required
