Job Description

The Team

Our Discover team is responsible for developing and delivering the foundation for best-in-class user experiences in the SEEK iOS app.

We are an agile distributed team comprised of team members located in Australia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. The team values, and is driven by, continuous improvement through analysis of user needs and behaviour, and by learning, adapting, and evolving our team capabilities and approaches to drive rapid delivery of value to candidates and hirers.

Being part of a multi-functional team, you’re likely to be interacting daily with many different partners across engineering, product, analytics, design, product, and delivery.

About the role

As an iOS Developer in our Mobile Apps stream, you’ll be working on our popular SEEK iOS app, the back-end APIs, and the internal tools that help automate and deliver high quality experiences frequently. We are looking for versatile engineers with a passion for mobile app design that share our philosophy for high quality software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Delivering best in class native experiences for our SEEK iOS App aligned with SEEK’s strategic priorities.
• Building high quality systems following SEEK development practices & principles.
• Contributing to maintenance of platform health, ensuring our systems are secure, reliable, resilient and cost effective.
• Supporting the design & delivery of back-end experience APIs.
• Improving our tooling to help the team become more efficient at what we do.
• Actively participate in team ceremonies such as planning, goal setting, retrospectives and stand-ups.
• Participating in our paid after-hours support roster (when needed).

Qualifications

• Working in an agile multi-functional team and development organisation delivering high quality software in an agile environment.
• Experience maintaining and regularly releasing features for a commercial scale iOS app.
• Developing apps with Swift including user interface development.
• Used agile development methodologies and practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, test driven development (TDD), behaviour-driven development (BDD), pairing, code reviews, scrum, Kanban, and lean.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of software engineering principles and patterns in Swift.
• Strong sense of software craftsmanship: writes clean, testable, effective, and communicable code.
• Experience integrating with backend services.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience designing backend services for apps including GraphQL would be advantageous but not mandatory
• Contributes to maintaining continuous delivery pipelines using current practices, patterns, & tooling.
• Supports DevOps as a culture.

Personal Skills

• Driven with positive attitude.
• Comfortable problem solving using detailed analysis while dealing with uncertainty.
• Clear communicator with open minded collaboration.
• Self-aware with continuous improvement mentality.
• Comfortable challenging the status quo to ensure solutions deliver value to customers.
