Job Description
The Actuarial Internship at Sun Life Hong Kong is a 6-month full time internship placement for students who wish to explore a career as an Actuary in Hong Kong. Students will have the opportunities to gain hands-on experiences on various actuarial tasks and a deep dive exposure to the operations of a global leading insurance firm. Over the 6 months full time placement, students will be matched to one of our top performing teams, supported by our experienced colleagues and managers on the learning and development of their journey to an Actuary.

Following the team allocation in your internship placement, you will gain hands-on experiences on some of the key actuarial tasks depending on the team you will be working in, including but not limited to:

Prepare special quote and illustration, regular statistical return and report
-
Participate in product development & implementation process, including experience study, market comparison, and User Acceptance Test (UAT)

Maintain customer database and prepare the related statistics
-
Support the actuarial valuation modelling work

Support the annual experience studies
-
Support the preparation of reinsurance reporting and monthly valuation process
-
Support quarterly & monthly reports to monitor ALM related risks, including interest rate, equity, currency, and liquidity risks

Assist in analysis of ALM strategies for operating and surplus segments to optimize risk return trade-off
Job Requirements:

Year 2 – 4 student in Actuarial Studies, or other quantitative subjects such as Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management, etc.

Some progress in SOA Actuarial examination or equivalent but not required

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FoxPro

Programming skills and knowledge to GGY AXIS will be an advantage

Good analytical and communication skills
