Inside the Role
The On Highway Product Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the team that develops and executes go-to-market strategies for all Freightliner (Cascadia and eCascadia) and Western Star (57X) products in the on highway segments. The successful candidate will help shape and execute the strategies and tactical plans that help grow DTNA’s market leadership in the on highway market. This manager connects DTNA’s products and business solutions to our customers, and equips our dealers and internal sales teams with the right information, at the right time, as simply as possible. As Product Marketing Manager, you will be part of the Market Development team, whose work directly contributes to DTNA’s collective success, and the success of our dealer partners, our end-user customers, and our longer-term strategic goals.

Position offers a starting salary range of $121,500 - $155,500 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA:

Lead the development and execution of the go-to-market plan and key messages for all Freightliner and Western Star on-highway truck products

Lead collaboration with on highway segment strategy, actively monitoring product development timelines, to determine appropriate go-to-market timing and to ensure proper positioning of on-highway products and features in marketing collateral and messaging

Lead development of marketing content and tools to help DTNA internal sales and dealers understand the what and why behind our products, helping them more effectively sell Freightliner and Western Star on highway truck products – product pitch deck presentations, sell sheets, white-papers, spec packages, competitive comparisons, etc.; collaborate with digital marketing team to ensure appropriate distribution of content

Drive collaboration with Freightliner and Western Star brand marketing teams to ensure alignment of product feature messaging, model positioning, segment focus, and customer experience with overall department strategies; support brand communication strategy and execution; provide technical and market expertise as needed to support compelling brand campaign development

Collaborate with on highway training team to develop dealer training modules, videos (product videos and driver training videos) and other content to ensure key stakeholders, dealers in particular, are well educated and understand how to sell product features depending on customer/market segment need and preference; support strategy development & execution of dealer training events (agenda development, appropriate vehicles, content development)

Collaborate with the vocational market development and powertrain product marketing teams to ensure DTNA is delivering consistent messaging, services, and processes to our stakeholders

Routinely collaborate with internal on highway sales teams to ensure they are educated on Freightliner and Western Star on highway products/features and incorporate their input into marketing collateral, tools, and event (trade shows and customer ride & drives) strategy

Collaborate with powertrain and safety product marketing team to ensure appropriate powertrain (Detroit and third party) and Detroit Assurance safety product positioning and messaging in truck marketing content; support powertrain product marketing team in executing their go-to-market strategies for Detroit and third party products

Lead collaboration with partners in the emerging technology teams (ZTG, ATG, CSG) to ensure appropriate integration and consistent messaging of their product content in truck marketing messaging and materials

Lead development and execution, including specing, of marketing truck strategy, collaborating with brand marketing, segment strategy and sales to determine appropriate truck specs; support segment strategy in developing PAR pre-series truck specing strategy

Collaborate with corporate communications regarding product launch activities, including press communication strategy (press releases and ride & drive events); support corporate communications in answering press inquiries

Develop the vision and execution for presence at relevant trade shows, industry events and customer ride and drive events; collaborate with segment strategy and brand marketing to drive successful execution

Lead, in collaboration with segment strategy, sales, strategic pricing and controlling teams, the development of marketing and corporate inventory programs to drive sales of on highway products and features to increase truck sales

Manage product marketing cost center to plan and optimize budget to successfully execute marketing plan

Lead, coach, and develop direct-report team members across multiple locations while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture built on a foundation of trust, support, and creativity in the pursuit of excellence in execution

Travel required approximately 25% of the time
Knowledge You Should Bring:

BS/BA and prefer 8 years of relevant experience

Freightliner and/or Western Star product knowledge

Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills

Excellent decision making and problem solving skills required

Working knowledge and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Possess strong project management skills

Be flexible, with a willingness to pivot depending on market or DTNA needs or external events

Quickly learn and communicate technical details of DTNA on highway truck products

Ability to build or already possess internal cross-functional network – segment strategy, brand/marketing communications, vocational product marketing, powertrain product marketing, product strategy, sales, CAE, service, controlling, regulatory compliance, EMG, ATG, CSG etc.

Have a proven record for fostering a culture of coaching, empowerment, decision-making, teamwork and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have:

Previous experience in product, brand, digital or aftersales marketing or closely related field

Previous experience with on highway product, dealers and customers

Knowledge and experience working with regulatory and or emerging technology topics

CDL or ability to obtain CDL
