Job Summary:

Directly responsible for the development and deployment of one or more software applications supporting the management, processing, and analysis of genomic data. Provides support as a consultant and collaborator to bioinformatics scientists and software engineering teams and as a mentor to other engineers.
Applications may include:
• databases, data warehouses, and knowledgebases
• user-driven workflow and analysis systems
• genomic data annotation and interpretation services
• genomic data processing pipelines

Job Duties:

• Provides technical leadership in bioinformatics software engineering.
• Gathers requirements and designs software solutions for maximizing the value of genomic data.
• Manages the software development lifecycle for assigned projects.
• Contributes directly to software development and oversees the work of direct reports or matrixed team members.
• Mentors other engineers.
• Serves as a resource for bioinformatics expertise and collaborates with bioinformatics scientists and others to translate ideas into production software solutions.

Position Details:

Demonstrated expertise in the following areas

• Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
• Python, Ruby or a similar modern scripting language
• Database design and implementation
• Developing user-driven web applications and APIs
• Genomic data and related analytical tools, particularly NGS data
• Experience with clinical human genetics data preferred
• Experience in a regulated healthcare (CAP, CLIA, NY, FDA, etc.) or similar environment preferred
• Experience with cloud software development (AWS or similar) preferred

Education:

Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Required), Master's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred)

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years-Relevant experience* (Required)
