Luminar is hiring a Business Controller/FP&A Analyst to serve as a key member of the finance team to support financial planning, business modeling, forecasting and management reporting activities in partnership with the VP of finance and the business.
Responsibilities
- Partner with budget owners to grow the business profitably and ensure the spending is aligned with the plan
- Build a good understanding of the autonomous vehicle (ADAS) industry and the company to provide insights, revenue growth opportunities, cost optimization alternatives and drive solutions with the business
- Provide financial modeling and analysis to cross-functional teams, as needed.
- Strong understanding on product cost breakdown (BOM and MVA) including understanding the contract manufacturer value chain
- Provide business support to specific budget owners
- Ability to forecast spend for the various budget owners is a must
- Collaborate with the broader Finance team to achieve department-level goals and objectives
- Support the finance team with daily and monthly duties / financial reporting
- Support or lead ad hoc projects, as appropriate
- Create analyses, commentary, and presentation materials as needed
- Proactively identify, develop, and implement process improvements to achieve automation/efficiencies and scalability
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with business partners
- BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting or Engineering degree desired
- 5+ years of experience in FP&A with experience in Cost analysis, FP&A, forecasting and modelling
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and complete deliverables on time
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail and focus on accuracy
- High initiative, flexibility/adaptability, and positive attitude
- Expert in Excel and other common business tools such as MS Powerpoint and MS Word
Preferred Qualifications
- FP&A experience, preferably with a high-tech, public company
- Experience using planning software is a plus
- Experience using ERP
- Knowledge/use of Infor LN a plus
- Start-up experience including working with Engineering Business Development, Operations and Marketing is a plus
- Solid business judgment with ability to think strategically and plan effectively; be hands-on, accurate, with attention to details and results-oriented
- Exemplary communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels within the Company
- Solid problem-solving, negotiation, analytical and complex financial modeling skills, with the ability to distill large amounts of data into understandable information for effective and efficient action
