We are looking for an ESG analyst to support our responsible engagement overlay (reo) clients as well as our Fiduciary clients in developing and implementing their responsible investment policies through active ownership and other integration options. In this role, you are a member of our global responsible investment team with expert colleagues in the UK, US and Singapore. You will be based in Amsterdam, working closely with the local product specialist and Fiduciary Team. Working with local clients requires excellent knowledge of the Dutch language, while your participation in development of responsible investment solutions for clients requires good quantitative skills.
We are looking for a bright ESG analyst to join our Amsterdam Responsible investment (RI) team who will be supporting our RI product specialists, RI strategists and Fiduciary business. The individual will support client interaction and our responsible business growth, and increasingly become a subject matter expert across our responsible investment capabilities. We would like to recruit someone who has a passion for ESG, is analytical, a hard-working team player, eager to learn, and articulate with good attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
- Support client interaction and the growth and evolution of the responsible business. This would include handling RFPs, completing due diligence assessments, working with people across the responsible investment team, as well as preparing presentation packs. We are looking for someone to focus on Supporting clients in implementing their responsible investment policy through the investment process:
- Engagement & voting
- Risk analysis
- Impact Investing
- Social and environmental topics including Net Zero and Biodiversity
- Advise on policy, trends and regulation
- Sharing thematic research and thought leadership
- Ensure our clients and prospects are serviced at the highest level, and that we continue to successfully build on our competitive advantages.
- Produce high-quality written work including client materials in Dutch and English.
- Progress broad projects working across our global RI team and with our many stakeholders.
- Support in preparing materials to promote the Responsible Investment team/Columbia Threadneedle Investments in the wider ESG marketplace.
- Support new business efforts across our responsible investment capabilities:
- Responsibility for ensuring up to date materials for such meetings – includes updates to presentation packs
- Work with the RFP team to produce high-quality RFPs across our responsible business
Desirable experience, skills and competencies
Essential
- Prior relevant work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English.
- A passion to understand and build ESG knowledge and apply it in a practical context.
- Good understanding of sustainability and ESG issues and how they relate to investment.
- Ability to translate complex ESG topics into business and financially relevant issues with clients, companies and other market participants.
- Understanding of institutional investment management.
- Knowledge of the relevant regulations, standards and initiatives in the ESG field (for example SFDR, NZAM and GIIN).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity.
- Attention to detail.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- An ability to work autonomously and take ownership, and also able to work effectively as part of a broader team with a strong sense of collaboration to achieve shared goals.
