With the above vision in mind, AtkinsRéalis is looking for career-oriented, intermediate-level project staff in our Saskatoon office.
This role will be based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Your role within the team:
Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist/Agrologist/Technologists are required to be the site supervisor leading field programs including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remedial excavation, site demolition, and hydrogeological investigation. Other technical responsibilities may include assistance with training junior field staff, report preparation for peer review, and requesting for quote from subcontractors.
The Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Engineer/Geologist/Agrologist/Technologist responsibilities may include the following:
- Historical data review and subsequent site inspections.
- Preparing and Coordinating project documentation, permits, subcontractors and equipment of field program Groundwater monitoring and sampling.
- Hydraulic conductivity testing.
- Aquifer testing.
- Surface water sampling.
- Soil vapour sampling.
- Surface soil sampling.
- Oversite of drilling investigations.
- Installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
- Oversite of remedial excavations.
- Emergency Spill Response.
- Owner’s Engineer (site supervision; contractor management).
- Risk assessment.
- Photographic and written documentation of site activities.
- Communication with the Project Managers with project progress and budget.

The ideal candidate:
- Diploma or University Degree, in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, Biology, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, or relevant field.
- Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter.
- 3 to 5 years of work experience.
- Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) including soil and groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, various drilling techniques, soil descriptions and terminology, and quality assurance / quality control. Experience with remedial systems is desired but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, high energy, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time and multiple projects appropriately.
- Strong communication (verbal communication and technical writing) skills.
- Willing to undertake field work year-round and travel throughout Western Canada, at times for extended periods (weeks/months).
- Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
- Optional declaration of aboriginal status.
- Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
