Your Purpose 

Bitso is seeking a proactive, hands-on, experienced technical leader, to join as an Engineering Manager. 

The Engineering Manager will oversee and coordinate our skilled team, advanced tools, and streamlined processes to deliver high quality software solutions. Expected to forge robust cross-departmental relationships, you will collaborate with stakeholders from product management, peers, and business operations to define and execute plans, assess capacity, and determine technical needs.

The Engineering Manager assesses the productivity, health of the squads, leads by example, and coaches people on developing new skills. To succeed you will need to be hands-on, have empathy with your team and other stakeholders, and be a great listener and communicator. The Engineering Manager uses creativity and imagination to overcome barriers and leverage people's talents to meet delivery deadlines of outstanding and value-added products, services, and features. You will assist in hiring top talent across the world that creates a state of the art multidisciplinary product engineering organization enabling them to build, launch, and improve technology products that will help Bitso make crypto useful.

Reports To

Director of Engineering at the Core services unit.

Who You Are 

  • 4+ years experience working in a software engineering management or leadership role.
  • Proven leadership skills with hands-on experience in guiding technical teams, adept at both performance management and delivering comprehensive feedback.
  • Experienced in recruitment and adept at fostering a motivated and committed engineering team.
  • Strong engineering acumen, with a keen curiosity to lead and innovate in all technical domains of the development process.
  • Versatile engineering expertise with a history of working in various technical environments, such as cloud services, container orchestration, multiple programming languages, development tools, and open source projects.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, with the capability to manage complex schedules and effectively resolve conflicts.
  • A proactive problem-solver who identifies root causes, evaluates optimal solutions, and implements comprehensive improvements to prevent future issues.
  • Goal-driven with a track record of leading teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • English language proficiency.

What You Will Do 

  • Drive your team to take ownership of services, ensuring delivery meets the highest quality standards for our customers.
  • Collaborate with your team to define performance metrics, set clear goals, and track progress, ensuring the squad consistently delivers exceptional quality.
  • Provide coaching, foster professional development, and manage the career trajectories for all squad members.
  • Accountable for the outcomes of the squad and the development of the team members.
    Proactively drive the team’s direction and roadmaps, fostering ongoing communication with engineering leadership and peers to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure squad health and performance, mediating interpersonal and technical conflicts within and across teams.
  • Prioritize the work within the team along with the product team to attend to urgent matters to succeed and meet the needs of Bitso’s roadmaps.
