We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team of analysts and software engineers in developing and delivering GE's Flight Management System (FMS) navigation database. This navigation database services approximately 70+% of commercial flight FMS operations in almost every part of the world and many military customer FMS operations. Additionally, we develop and provide software tools and provide support to enhance customer operations with our navigation database. In this pivotal leadership role, you will ensure product safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness by guiding strategic decision-making, leading team development, and facilitating project execution. You will be responsible for ensuring quality outcomes and adherence to defined processes, facilitating collaboration between the engineering team and business counterparts, and enhancing the customer experience through innovative solutions that directly improve customer operations and outcomes.Job Description

  • Lead and inspire a team of engineers to achieve high-quality results through effective leadership, motivation, and regular, constructive feedback.
  • Develop and mentor engineering talent, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and empowerment.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality, and on-time product delivery by leading the team to meet customer expectations.
  • Lead the discovery of customer needs and drive innovation to enhance customer experience and satisfaction.
  • Champion continuous improvement within the team by empowering team members to contribute and mature ideas and solutions.
  • Coordinate collaboration between engineering teams and business counterparts to ensure efficient value stream management, seamless project execution, and compliance with processes and certification requirements.
  • Own NDB Letter of Acceptance (LOA) sign-offs to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and data integrity, and resolve engineering issues promptly by addressing challenges and escalating when necessary.
  • Develop and protect intellectual property by coaching the team to contribute to GE's competitive edge and ensuring data security through technical and organizational measures.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • At least 6+ years of experience in safety-critical product design & development, technical project leadership, or technical mentorship within an engineering product development environment.

    • Proficiency in C, C++, or similar languages.
    • Experience in full lifecycle design, development, and verification.
    • Familiarity with engineering design practices, Agile Scrum, and product line engineering to optimize team performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Ability to foster strong collaboration and communication within the team and with other internal and external teams.
    • Creating a team-oriented environment that encourages open dialogue and cooperation.
  • Regulatory Standards Experience:
    • Experience developing products to defined regulatory standards within a safety-critical environment.
    • Ability to learn and apply specific standards such as DO-200, ensuring compliance and quality.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to support up to 10% travel. The business may require the employee to come onsite initially for on-the-job training as well as onboarding activities. After that period, up to 20% travel may be required annually to support business needs.
