ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are looking to add serious Management talent to our Application Engineering team. The Director, Cloud Engineering + DevOps will be responsible for leading Waystar’s Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams. These teams design, engineer, and manage Waystar’s cloud ecosystems, Kubernetes clusters, and application environments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead the architecture and engineering of Waystar’s cloud platforms
  • Ensure we launch our GenAi products on time
  • Design scalable cloud solutions to support business initiatives
  • Drive maturity in our FinOps and SecOps programs
  • Design and build Waystar’s go-forward K8s platform
  • Standardize K8s capabilities and drive adoption across application engineering teams
  • Build a world-class team of people to support Waystar’s technical initiatives
  • Coach team members, lead strategic initiatives, and build great relationships with internal customers

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Have extensive DevOps experience and a deep software development background
  • Possess deep cloud expertise and strong familiarity with VMware/datacenter management
  • This person must be a technology and organizational change agent. We need to transform how we operate. We do not need to increment how we operate.
  • This person must be able to create a vision for the Platform that they are providing to the rest of the organization.
  • They must be adept at managing managers. They understand how to set and manage organizational objectives through a team of leaders.
  • They know how to grow a manager’s capabilities to hold team members accountable and grow their skillsets.
  • They are ambitious and relentlessly curious. They must have a desire and ability to grow with our organization.
  • They must be experts at planning and leading large initiatives and must be able to translate business priorities from the executive team into action plans with clear accountability.
  • Possess 10+ years of directly relevant experience in Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and/or DevOps.
  • Possess a minimum of 5+ years of managerial experience, ideally as a director, but possibly as an experienced manager from a larger organization.
