Apify's mission is to make the web more programmable. Why? We believe that humans have better things to do than fill in forms, compile Excel sheets of copy-pasted data, or search social media for hashtags. Those are jobs for a machine.

Apify collects billions of rows of data from all over the world for science, market research, or finding lost children. We make it possible for AI chatbots to interact intelligently, and we’re the platform to host and monetize AI Agents and open-source projects. We’re actively involved in developing novel ways to work with generative AI like ChatGPT.

To support our mission, we're looking for a talented Community Manager to help us drive engagement with our global developer community.

What you’ll be working on?

  • Your responsibility will be to make our community more engaged, bigger, and self-sustainable.
  • You’ll be multitasking between answering developers, building a community forum, running programs like webinars and office hours, and writing technical content for the Crawlee blog and announcing it in the monthly newsletter.
  • You’ll help the Developer Experience (DX) team implement projects such as the Ambassadors program, Star Creator of the Month, giveaways, etc.
  • You’ll make sure that every new change and feature in the product and our open-source libraries are announced in the Discord community.
  • Working with other team members and in cross-team collaboration to produce events (offline/online), competitions, and other projects that will drive engagement.
  • Helping out the DX team and our developer advocate in managing and writing content on the Crawlee blog.
  • Talking with developers over messages, calls, emails, and events. You’ll that their insights and sharing them with relevant internal teams.
  • You’ll join our remote, distributed Developer Experience team, which is responsible for Community Management & Developer Advocacy, and DX Product Development. You’ll report to our VP of Developer Experience.
  • Guide developers from onboarding to success: advise on monetization strategies, navigate documentation, and provide hands-on support to both veteran and new publishers.
  • Manage Apify Store home. You will collaborate with the Store PM team to make sure community Actors are visible on Store home in the most effective way.

They say there are no perfect candidates, but you might be the one if you have:

  • Understanding of software development to support and guide Apify’s community of developers building Actors on Apify Store.
  • Experience in community building. The best case scenario is from another tech company or startup with a thriving developer community or experience building your own communities/user groups.
  • Social personality and are ready to prepare webinars, content, and other activities to help boost engagement.
  • Confidence to enjoy speaking in front of a developer audience, both online and offline.
  • Skills to run successful webinars, panel discussions, and product demos.
  • You know how to organize, multitask, and work across multiple teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills in English.
  • You enjoy coding and are eager to learn more technical concepts as you grow into your role.
  • Knowledge of the ins and outs of forums like Discourse is a big plus.
  • A passion for Open Source

By the end of the first 3 months, we expect you to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Apify community: You’ll have gained a deep understanding of our developer community, including their shared interests, challenges, and the unique aspects that make our community thrive.
  • Key performing indicators: Identified what is and isn’t working for our community, and have identified a few KPIs that we should work on for the next 12 months.
  • Product knowledge: Understood and used Apify products and gained knowledge about the users, developers, and different personas.
  • Develop relationships across teams: Started building relationships with engineers, marketing, and other relevant teams to understand how community feedback can be integrated into a broader strategy.
  • Webinars and office hours: Organized at least one office hour end-to-end, from deciding topics with product teams, doing logistics, promoting it with marketing, and hosting it on Discord.
  • Monthly community report: Create a monthly report on community insights, KPIs, interesting things to note, and areas doing well or needing improvement.

By the end of the first 6 months, we expect you to:

  • Drive community engagement: Implement creative strategies and activities that boost engagement, reduce churn, and foster a sense of belonging among community members.
  • Lead community-driven projects: Take charge of organizing and executing major community events, such as webinars, office hours, and product demos, with measurable success in terms of participation and satisfaction.
  • Leading advocate programs: You are leading and building different advocacy programs to support “super members” in the community.
  • Expand your role: Start taking on more responsibility for more extensive campaigns and special projects, demonstrating your ability to manage complex tasks and deliver results.
  • Community forum: You’ve rolled out a community forum in collaboration with different teams in the organization to build a knowledge base for our audience.
  • Technical writing: You’ve learned about our products, and started learning about various tech concepts behind them, to write helpful content that helps our developer community to build great Actors.

Why should you work for Apify?

  • Space, support, and autonomy for personal growth, with a direct impact on our success
  • Full-time position in Prague (Lucerna Palace), Brno (Titanium) or fully remote
  • Flexible working hours
  • Zero bullshit policy – No Jira, no Okta, no Confluence, no Certified™ScrumMasters®, no quarterly estimates. Just GitHub, GSuite, Notion, Slack, and shipping stuff to production

  • Epic team buildings and offsites 🚢 with biking, canoeing, and other adventures 🪂

  • Ping-pong, chess, PS5, lightsabers, foosball league after lunch,…
