Job Description

Our team members work in cross functional teams in projects on different scales in various industries. Their main responsibility is to ensure exceptional software quality through utilizing the best practices in all phases of software development in order to ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability of applications. With deep knowledge of various types of applications, databases, and operating systems, they maintain high standards of product excellence and user satisfaction.
We are looking for a Database Reliability Engineer to join our Applications Management team in Bucharest. Applications management involves overseeing the lifecycle of software applications, including deployment, monitoring, maintenance and optimization to ensure they meet business requirements and deliver value effectively.

Qualifications

What will you be doing?

• Actively monitoring database performance metrics, identifying potential issues, and setting up alerts to proactively address problems.
• Tuning SQL queries, optimizing database schema design, and managing indexes to maximize database performance.
• Forecasting future database needs and scaling infrastructure accordingly to handle increased data volume and usage.
• Implementing robust backup strategies and ensuring efficient data restoration capabilities in case of emergencies.
• Developing automated scripts to streamline routine database tasks like patching, upgrades, and data refreshes.
• Investigating and resolving database-related incidents in a timely manner.
• Implementing robust database security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Assist and support SSRE function.
• Collaborate with other IT teams, platform teams, and the wider business.

DRE: Skills/Qualifications/Experience

• Proven experience in IT infrastructure management and support.
• Working within an ITIL framework.
• Strong understanding of application support processes and tools.
• Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud infrastructure management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration and architecture.
• Strong understanding of SQL query optimization techniques.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automation.
• Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure and database services within them.
• Familiarity with concepts like high availability, disaster recovery, and data replication.
