What you are going to do
You will be part of the Chat Team, which, as an expertise department for external chat, builds scalable and repeatable AI solutions for the entire Nationale-Nederlanden. Since this involves NLP applications in the Dutch language, proficiency in Dutch is necessary.
Specifically, you will develop innovative AI solutions with the team so that your solutions create real value for our company of tomorrow. Researching and applying new technology plays an important role. You will use state-of-the-art techniques such as AI as a service and LLMs, like Azure Cognitive Services and OpenAI. You understand how to help business colleagues translate their needs into AI solutions, and you enjoy presenting your solutions to the business and helping them adopt AI.
- Develop and implement innovative AI solutions for our chat platform, focusing on LLMs and RAG
- Design data processing using Python and modern data engineering tools
- Analyze and solve complex business and technical challenges and proactively improve the stability and performance of our LLM and RAG applications
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, maintaining close contact with other data scientists, software engineers, and stakeholders to optimize processes and provide innovative solutions

Who you are
You are result-oriented and enjoy delivering code projects for the business, but you especially see value in the further adoption of our AI solutions. Your open attitude and strong communication skills greatly help with this.
Additionally, you have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Econometrics, IT, or a study with a strong Data Science component
- Proven experience with Python and deploying LLMs or implementing RAG
- Experience with Langgraph and agentic frameworks is a plus.
- Experience in developing ML applications in Python
- Practical knowledge of the data science process, such as data collection, cleaning, model evaluation, and model implementation and preferably experience with (Azure) CI/CD tools, Git, SQL
- Knowledge and experience with AWS, particularly AWS Lambda functions and serverless architecture, is a plus
- Knowledge and experience with designing and implementing chatbots or conversational agents is a plus.
- Good command of the Dutch language
Who you will work with
You will be working in Team Chat, an international, self-organizing Agile development team within the Customer & Digital domain. The team consists of Conversation/UI designers, software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and a product owner. We work according to the Scrum methodology and alternate working from home with working at the office, within walking distance of Den Haag Laan van NOI and Den Haag Centraal. The atmosphere is collegial and open, with plenty of room for personal input and development.
