General 

The Contract Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting Agilent’s business operations by managing contractual matters. This position is for a Japanese language expert to oversee a portfolio of Agilent contracts for Japan and China, directly facilitating revenue generation while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. 

The role involves close collaboration with various Agilent departments in Japan and Greater China to identify and execute appropriate contractual solutions for different business situations. This includes overseeing the entire process from contract request to signature and system activation. Once a contract is established, the Contract Specialist monitors and maintains it throughout its validity.

 

The Contract Specialist leverages Agilent’s tools to enhance efficiency and transparency regarding the contractual rights and obligations of all parties. They work closely with a broad range of internal teams and may interact directly with external parties for contract negotiations or collaborate with a Contract Negotiator or Enterprise Counsel. 

This role requires a highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and business-minded individual capable of managing a wide range of contractual matters while fostering strong relationships with business stakeholders and Legal department members. Expert written and verbal knowledge of Japanese business communication is a must. Proficiency is Chinese business language is expected for this multi lingual role.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Contract Management 

  • Serves as the first point of contact for contract requests from Agilent internal teams, working with requestors to define the appropriate contractual solutions. 

  • Manages the end-to-end contract process in a timely and accurate manner, including drafting, reviewing, obtaining signatures, and activating contracts in line with Agilent policies while driving positive customer experience. 

  • Monitors and maintains contracts throughout their validity, amending and renewing them as necessary. 

  • Involves other members of the Legal department or internal stakeholders as consultants, approvers, or as otherwise needed to ensure full compliance with relevant processes and requirements. 

  • Effectively leverages Agilent tools such as SAP, Contract Lifecycle Management Tools, Microsoft Office solutions, and others to manage contracts  

  • Routinely uses reports and analytics to manage the contract portfolio, resolve data discrepancies and identify opportunities for improvement. 

 

Contract negotiation:  

  • Negotiates contractual terms and conditions, escalating to Contract Negotiator as required 

 

  • Collaboration with Business and Legal Stakeholders:   

  • Collaborates closely with various departments to ensure contractual obligations are clearly defined, communicated, understood, and met.  

  • Creates materials and deliver presentations to make contractual processes transparent to stakeholders and collaborators. 

  • Routinely collaborates with other members of the Legal team and internal organizations on projects and initiatives aimed at improving internal processes and tools, as well as other business-related projects. 

 

  • Contract Template Management 

  • Collaborates with other legal team members in defining, maintaining and localizing the contract templates
