Position Overview
ConCast Pasting Operator is responsible for safely operating the Wirtz ConPaste Machine which includes but is not limited to, coil loading and unloading, strip threading, paper application and roll changes, operation and set up of the pasting hopper, paste mixing, set up; adjusting and operating the cutting operation, oven set up, end of shift clean up, fork lift use and plate off bearing. This position also requires operator routine maintenance and scrupulous machine cleanliness.
Areas of Focus
Safely produce high quality negative plates that meet all quality standards at the lowest cost/highest efficiency possible. The housekeeping of the area, the mixer, the machine tooling and particularly the cutting operation and its maintenance and cleaning which will be performed by the operators are of the highest order of importance.
Responsibilities
- Performs all duties required of the ConCast Pasting operation safely, with 98% plus first pass yield.

- Off Bearing Plates
- Properly maintain the housekeeping standards for the entire area which include but are not limited to the floors, the mixer and the entire mix deck, the tooling, the ducts, signage, electrical junction boxes and any other surface in need of cleaning, as well as the maintenance of paper storage and other componentry.
- Ensure that safety supplies and personal protective equipment are used in compliance with Safety policies and guidelines.
- Completes required documentation for production, inventory, SPC, administration.
- Completes required computer system input, analysis and reports relative to the area.
- Follows all work instructions and maintains the standards of expected output.
- Must be able and willing to assist in the changing of any and all equipment associated with the ConPaste Line which includes but is not limited to the areas from the paste mixer to the off bearing station, including items ancillary to the equipment such as ventilation, etc.
- Must be able to effectively make any and all changeovers in the specified time frame allowed.
- Must be able and willing to train other employees as required.
- Ability to operate and perform Fork-Lift tasks and duties and sustain a Fork-Lift License.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a current C&D Trojan Employee in good standing.
- Less than 2 attendance points. No policy violations in the past 2 years.
- Operators will be selected through the interview process which will be a panel interview with members of senior plant leadership. Final decision will be that of the entire panel, with the Director of Operations holding the tie breaking vote.
- If not a current C&D Trojan Employee, at least 1 year of continuous pasting experience is required.
- Exceptions will be made if there are no qualified internal candidates, or no external candidates with the required experience.
- General mechanical understanding of how machines work.
- Operator must be familiar with basic hand tools and be capable of using them to make adjustments and minor repairs to equipment during normal operation.
- Operator must be capable of using measuring instruments to including but not limited to tape measure and calipers.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Be able to stand for 12 hours per day and lift when required, no more than 49 pounds.
