Role Summary

The Cloud Technical Advisor will work across a large government client for Steel Point, serving as a trusted technical advisor and strategist. You will guide and provide expert advice on large-scale cloud initiatives, focusing on driving efficiency, fostering innovation, and aligning cloud solutions with both client objectives.  This role requires a deep understanding of cloud strategies, architectures, and implementation best practices to optimize processes, reduce complexity, and enhance overall efficiency. The Cloud Technical Advisor will collaborate with client stakeholders and third-party vendors to evaluate technical solutions, streamline workflows, and ensure that cloud transformations deliver maximum value. Leveraging your expertise, you will provide actionable recommendations, identify opportunities for improvement, and help define objectives, strategies, and technical requirements for cloud initiatives. Regular communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders will be essential to ensure alignment, mitigate risks, and track progress toward achieving the desired outcomes.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute cloud strategies that align with organizational objectives, while inspiring and guiding teams toward achieving measurable results. 
  • Cloud Technical Expertise: Possess in-depth understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), hybrid/multi-cloud architectures, cloud security frameworks, and cloud-native development practices. Experience with AI/ML integration and automation within cloud environments.
  • Cloud Governance and Compliance: Expertise in managing cloud governance policies, cost optimization strategies, and compliance with industry standards such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, GDPR, and CMMC.
  • Business Acumen and Digital Transformation: Strong ability to align cloud strategies with business priorities, driving operational efficiency, cost savings, and growth opportunities through digital transformation initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Influence: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts and strategies to executives, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders. Skilled in influencing decision-making processes.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Advanced analytical thinking to address challenges related to scalability, performance, security, and cost in cloud environments. Ability to develop innovative solutions to support organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional Certification
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) including designing, architecting, and delivering complex, scalable cloud solutions.
  • 7+ years of experience driving cloud strategy, architecture, and implementation initiatives, with a focus on efficiency and scalability.
  • 5+ years of experience working in industries with stringent compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, GDPR, CMMC), including cloud security frameworks and governance.
  • Proven ability to shape and deliver large-scale cloud or multi-cloud transformations, driving operational efficiency and aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, technical advisory, and guiding cross-functional teams on cloud-related initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, cost optimization, and performance management within public and multi-cloud environments.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud technologies, including infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native services, and containerization.
  • Skilled in identifying and mitigating technical risks, managing dependencies, and resolving technical challenges to ensure project alignment with timelines, scope, and budget.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze technical challenges and propose innovative, efficient cloud solutions.
  • Technically savvy with a demonstrated ability to learn and evaluate new cloud technologies quickly and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead discussions with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and clarity of technical objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic and complex environments, navigating evolving technical requirements and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to communicate cloud concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration and shared understanding.
  • Proven capability to provide strategic and technical guidance to help organizations optimize cloud adoption and improve operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

The salary range represents a general guideline; however, Steel Point Solutions considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Salary Range

$142,500$210,000 USD
