Design, organize, modify, and support an organization’s servers, including operating systems, business software applications, security tools, web servers, email systems, monitoring systems. Diagnose and resolve problems quickly to maintain maximum system up-time. Strong skills with Windows server and Linux server operations, sustainment, and management activities to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of managed software. Communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users to establish repeatable baselines and guides. Respond to, and assist with analyzing issues that degrade system or network performance to minimize downtime.

Job Description:

  • Design, organize, modify, and support an organization’s servers, including operating systems, business software applications, security tools, web servers, email systems. 

  • Quickly resolve any system failures and troubleshoot issues. Research upcoming products, service protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts. 

  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes. 

  • Install and configure virtual private cloud and site2site tunnels. 

  • Oversee system performance and report generation 

  • Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and active directory administration. 

  • Secure system integrity from any breaches or viruses and play an essential role in risk-mitigation planning, including creating backup plans, safeguards for data, user security policies, and identity management. 

  • Develop and execute backup and recovery plan. 

  • Offer technical support and training for staff. 

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues 

  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure. 

  • Managing capacity, storage planning, and database performance 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Experience with database server management\administration with MySQL and SQLServer 

  • Thorough understanding and troubleshooting in Linux OS 

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills  

  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision 

  • Familiarity with server management and monitoring tool 

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor or Associates degree from an accredited College or University in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent 

  • 5+ years of IT professional experience 

  • 4-5+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including application\database server administration 

  • 4-5+ years of networking experience with focus on configuration\troubleshooting\analysis 

  • 4-5+ years of VPN Tunnel experience with setup\configuration\troubleshooting 

  • 4-5+ years working in Cloud environments implementing infrastructure services and solutions  

 

Additional eligibility qualifications: 

  • Experience with Apache Tomcat application server administration 

  • Experience with configuration\troubleshooting of SSO (Shibboleth, CAS) 

  • Knowledge\experience using Docker 

  • Thorough understand and troubleshooting of MS Windows

  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as with Bash or Shell scripting
