The Buyer reports to the Supply Chain Manager and is responsible for all tactical aspects of supply chain procurement including material cost reduction, strategic procurement, quality and delivery improvements and supplier negotiations including but not limited to terms, pricing and/or discount structure. This role is on site on not available for remote work. $50K annual salary depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create, dispatch, and follow up on supplier PO’s.
• Maintain supplier relationships daily, ensuring PO price, lead –times, quantity increments, and delivery expectations are accurate and within the supplier metric expectations.
• Coordinate and monitor all related activities involved with procurement of goods for assigned supplier base.
• Maintain supplier information for accuracy within the database.
• Source materials and participate in the request for quote process.
• Work with planners, sales, and multiple other departments to meet customer service level expectations while maintaining inventory goals.
• Manage LIFR (Line-Item Fill Rates), drop ship totals, lead times and excess & obsolete inventory with assigned OEM base.
• Support the Supply Chain Manager and Sales team in pricing product.
• Seek out process improvement opportunities within procurement methods and cost reduction initiatives.
• Perform essential job duties and responsibilities at our office facility and comply with all Marmon Link conduct rules, attendance, accuracy, and dress code, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills/Competencies

• BS degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or Business-related discipline preferred OR equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in Purchasing.
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Strong project management and negotiation experience. 
• Firm grasp of supply chain management practices, bills of material, knowledge of material control.
• Experience with MRP and kanban systems.
• Knowledge of parts and distribution business.
• CPIM certification through APICS or equivalent is preferred.
• Analytical and problem-solving expertise with an emphasis in Excel.
• Customer and quality focused
• Self-motivated and can work independently with limited supervision.
• Occasional travel required.

Pay Range:

44,000.00 - 66,000.00
