POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations including intercompany transactions with BMC, BMCHP, and BUAP. Additionally this position assists in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, initiate monthly treasury wires, completes 990 tax filing schedules, responsible for abandoned property filing, and assists with monthly/quarterly investment analyses.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Month End Close
- Prepare and review standard/adhoc intercompany journal entries between BUMG Corporate, BMC, BMCHP, and BUAP
- Review for accuracy and completeness standard/adhoc journal entries for all clinical departments and BUAP
- Prepare all intercompany, payroll and investment balance sheet reconciliations for BUMG corporate and clinical departments
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Staff Accountants and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items and variances
- Department P&L Review: (a) Analyze month over month variances of Actuals to Budget by researching and addressing questions/concerns; (b) Propose any additional accruals, reversals, reclasses and coordinate with the clinical departments as needed
- Prepare Operating & Finance Lease schedules as needed and ensure accuracy of Lease entries and reconciliations
Intercompany
- Coordinate with the BMC accounting department to ensure all intercompany transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with the monthly close calendar. This will include maintaining and tracking all intercompany journal entries between BUMG and BMC on a monthly basis
- Record monthly eliminations between BUMG Corporate, BUMG clinical departments, BMC and other BMC entities. Provider a monthly schedule to the BMC Accounting Manager for all intercompany eliminations
- Analyze and review the interzone, due to/from, and opposite balance transactions on a monthly basis and take action to ensure timely resolution of any discrepancies
- Review monthly intercompany invoices and prepare related corporate liability reports for BUMG
- Responsible for accurately completing Institutional Support P&L Reconciliation between BUMG and BMC
- Complete monthly chair package roll-forwards and reconciliations regarding assets held at the BMC System
Treasury & Investments
- Prepare all investment related journal entries for BUMG corporate and clinical departments with investments
- Support the Accounting Manager in investment related functions including preparing necessary forms when creating new accounts, coordinating with BUMG departments regarding withdrawal/contribution of funds, and updating access for users when deemed necessary
- Completes monthly balance sheet metric schedules for BUMG Finance Committee as assigned including, but not limited to, calculating days cash on hand to assess amounts available to invest
Audit, Reporting, & Taxes
- Compile and prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for BUMG in the audit format
- Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing Federal and State 990/MAPC tax schedules and quarterly CHIA (Center for Health Information and Analysis) State filing reports
- Responsible for the annual abandoned property filing which includes coordinating directly with BMC Accounts payable, BMC Cash Processing Team, and the State to meet filing requirements
- Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing annual audit footnote schedules
Other Areas
- Review current work processes for redundancy and streamlining opportunities and in conjunction with the Accounting Manager assist to implement changes to increase workflow
- Communicate with the Accounting Supervisor and Accounting Manager regarding areas of exposure within the General Account office
- Assist in the onboarding, training and mentoring of the Staff Accountants
OTHER DUTIES:
- Performs other duties as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
BA/BS in Accounting or related-degree required. A CPA, or MBA or Master’s degree in finance or accounting is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
As stated above.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Healthcare experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel, and Infor General Ledger System
- Leadership ability to guide, direct and mentor staff and work effectively as a team member.
- Skills in anticipating and accurately predicting the results of alternate courses of action.
- Skills in determining needs, gathering, analyzing and presenting data to provide accurate and timely information for management’s use.
