Gilead Sciences commits to Inflammatory disease area and is expanding its portfolio. Although current focus is in Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with Jyseleca®, Gilead seeks proven talent to lead in branding entire future assets not only in RA but also in other rheumatic diseases including SLE as well as potentially in dermatology.

This role will lead in developing brand strategy and its implementation for Jyseleca in RA and pipeline products in rheumatic disease area under development which are in line with mid- and long-term portfolio strategy.

Currently Gilead Japan K.K. commercializes Jyseleca® in RA (and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases) by taking “Global Role” which develops brand strategy from scratch – this means by Japan is NOT one of affiliate and enables us to create everything innovatively by ourselves as a role model to other countries.

Job Description

Gilead Sciences Japan is seeking a motivated professional capable of working effectively in a cross-functional team environment. The successful candidate will be required proven track record of achieving/contributing business goal(s) in highly-complex market by solving problems/bottle necks. To that end, strategic thinking skills with ability to formulate, develop and execute strategy will be mandatory to meet requirements.

In this Inflammation RA Associate Director / Director role, you will take the lead in developing yearly-basis strategy and tactical plans in line with short-mid-long term brand strategies for Jyseleca® in RA and rheumatic diseases for pipeline products and will implement those strategies.

You will be responsible for achieving product revenue and managing within expense targets in RA through effective collaboration with business partner Eisai Co., Ltd for Jyseleca as the brand owner.

This individual is a full- time employment in the Inflammation Business Unit and report to the Inflammation Senior Marketing Director who will manage 4 direct reports for Jyseleca in RA and will be one of the members of Inflammation Leadership Team. Further expansion on direct reports upon new product launched is in-scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Strategy and Tactical POAs through analysis of highly complex problems and situations
  • Utilizes high level of business acumen in analyzing and coordinating activities from identified industry trends, competitor's resources and practices
  • Develops Omni-channel marketing strategy by taking advantage of digital marketing sources
  • Strategically coordinates and implements those strategy and tactics across internal functions liaising with medical, sales, market research, finance and other client-facing functions as well as our business partner (for Jyseleca) to drive activities to achieve revenue and objectives
  • Has responsible for budgeting and cost control, and strategic planning in RA and further pipeline products and works with finance on P/L within approved profitability targets
  • Ensures that all marketing activities are in compliance with regulatory, legal and business conduct requirements
  • Input Japan-specific requirement into global brand strategy for pipeline products not to try to make consistency with Global plan as appropriate
  • Understands and provides guidance on relevant human resource management issues (e.g. performance management, salary and compensation planning, incentives and reward, recruiting and hiring procedures, disability provisions etc)

Requirement (Education, Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Skills)

  

  • Proven track record of leading projects, driving changes, and organizing teams that successfully achieve milestones and deliverables, with at least 5+ year experience as team lead or above role
  • Proven track record as an effective leader to influence, guide, coach peers and other colleagues with demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and turn your analysis into strategic solutions
  • Extensive experiences of management/strategy consultant with proven business achievements/results
  • Proven track record of achieving/contributing business goal(s) in highly-complex market; proven achievement by solving problems/bottle necks not in product-driven market
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence multiple internal stakeholders and functions including global and cross-functional as well as your clients
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills along with excellent influencing and negotiating skills
  • Fluent communication skills in both verbal and written English and Japanese to gain credibility and influence all levels resulting in confirming tangible results
  • BS or BA degree with 12+ years of relevant experience including 5-year of experience in consulting firm
  • An advanced business degree such as MSc / MBA or advanced science degree such as MD, PharmD, PhD, or an equivalent is desirable
  • Capability in multi-tasks; demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in immunology and pharmaceutical product life cycle management
  • Good communication skills with an ability to translate complex analysis into business insights
  • Strong resilience, high learning agility, abstract thinking
